You can close MonBS accounts via their online banking portal

Is there a post in the last umpteen* pages of this thread explaining that this was the procedure?
* the term used by somebody complaining about the volume of information on this subject.

I didn't have that problem because Virgin Money allow you to simply change the reference number. Of course, you have to use an additional OTP because as far as VM knows, it could be a different account. But what was frustrating is that it immediately invites you to make a payment, then insists on yet another OTP for that! That was an issue because I was using a mobile hotspot from my phone upstairs whilst logged in on a PC downstairs.
BTW CoP gives an instant confirmation of the permanent account number

I did the same last month and the money is still in the account and not returned.
I choose the rooms that I live in with care,
The windows are small and the walls almost bare,
There's only one bed and there's only one prayer;
I listen all night for your step on the stair.1 -
You can do it easily through the online portal. Click on Details for the relevant account, then you'll see an "Account Closure" button appear on the left hand menu

My account does display the Interest rate. However, for the 'last 10 transactions' display it only shows one transaction. I sent them a message to ask whether it's a feature or a fault.

Just routing through the mountain of posts and see there is discussion on early closure. Mine matures in 13/9……am I missing something by not closing early?

Interest on the balance for 35 days?

Some possible reasons for people wanting to close early:
- Being able to open a new one now, in case it goes NLA in the near future
- Needing the funds to feed other accounts
- Wanting to spread your maturity dates throughout the year
If none of those apply to you, don't worry, you're not missing anything

The balance goes to a low paying Instant Access account by default, IIRC. Therefore, as Mon BS don't really action anything over the weekend, I think some people wanted a Mon - Fri closure in order to move funds during a working day.
