BoS regular saverYes, I'm aware. But with my own past experience and a 'chat' with an agent the other day — who said in no uncertain terms that I was not eligible for the 8% no matter what I do — I've decided to stay with the 5.5% one, not least as it has just four months to go…

SIGH. These accounts have been available for at least two weeks now, and have been extensively discussed in this thread.
If you read back over the last umpteen pages, you will find that you can close / renew your Lloyds and / or Hali RSs and open the 8%er. Whether this would actually work to your advantage depends on how much you have already saved up in your existing accounts.5 -

I think it is just a problem with the app. There is no requirement to open the regular saver pot before/after a certain period after you've opened the Biscuit account that I am aware of. Per page 1, the only requirement beyond having the Biscuit account is having a Smart Saver account

You shouldn’t believe what an agent tells you A lot of them don’t have a clue.
Go by peoples own experiences from on here.6 -
It's umpty pages they need to go through, not merely umpteen.

"Chat with the agent". Most agents read from the sheet you can read in t&c, which says "no you can't"⛔️
I've done this with BoS. Closed 5.5% and opened 8%. I didn't do this with Club Lloyds, decided to stick with the old version for now (there's still some risk of failed attempt).
If I had BoS 5.5% only four months to go, I would probably let it run to maturity. There is a fair chance that the 8% version will remain for a while. LBG tends to keep regular saver rates active for a long time, and the chances of the Bank of England lowering the base rate this calendar year are very slim.

I suspect (no personal evidence) that if you tell BoS chat that you want to close old saver so that you can open the 8% account tomorrow then the agent’s script says not possible. By contrast if you just ask to close the account, then the evidence of many other posters (not me, don't have BoS) is that you will be able to open new account tomorrow. Software on website doesn’t know the T&Cs unlike chat agent.

I notice the club lloyds regular saver has now changed to a £250 monthly limit….I assume this is for new accounts only and if you already have one you can still depsoit the £400?

Yes. Just the new 8% accounts are now £250. Any existing ones that were £400 are still £400 per month.

correct, and the reason I've stuck with the one I have, which is 8 months/£3,200 in at 6.25%.
