There's nothing to convert a Halifax RS to at maturity - the account just stays. Whether they will actively stop this from happening remains to be seen. However, a continued account would probably have a reduced and unattractive interest rate. Time will tell.

Perhaps it will become a "Memorial" Halifax RS that is available to all Lloyds customers. Who knows? It wouldn't influence my decision to snap it up while it's on offer at this rate.

I can't open a new Zopa regular saver - I get a "Something went wrong" message.

Went on chat and they said

"We do have an issue when it comes to android users not being able to open the regular saver. the matter is being looked into and you will be notified once the matter is resolved"

To be absolutely clear (perhaps someone can add this to the Wayback machine) the Halifax website today says

"We'll open an Everyday Saver account as part of the application. After 12 months, any money you’ve saved in your Regular Saver plus interest will transfer into your Everyday Saver account. Then your Regular Saver will renew for another 12 months. "

Everyone who has opened a Halifax RS in the last few months has applied under those terms and conditions.Lloyds will need to issue new T&C, or offer it at 1% rate.

OH and I opened Halifax accounts in December 2025, neither of us has a Halifax login, so we can't play the renew for 8% game, (yet?)

The terms were equivalent to that even before the latest 8% iteration, so all currently open Halifax RS will require renewal or a variation to the terms.

Lloyds don't need to drop to 1%... They could offer multiple RS at different rates just as they did until recently. Could have one at 8%, one at 6%...

I have all of BOS account already accessible from Halifax account since a long time ago. SIncerecenly I have seen my halifac accoutn already appear on my Lloyds login.

I have not tested to access BOS account using the original login with BOS, But I hope my BOS login will remain to allow me to still open BOS RS when Halifax and LLoyds become Lloyds.

Same Here. I tried it lastweek. But I have been having the ZOPA biscuit current AC since about two months ago. Is there any cut off time for the ZOPA regular saver after the opening of ZOPA biscuit current account or it is just the problem problem from the app ?

…so all currently open Halifax RS will require renewal or a variation to the terms

I understood the renewal term only applies if you keep the associated Everyday Saver open - if you close it prior to maturity of the RS account the alternative T&C comes into effect, i.e. that the RS itself matures into an Everyday Saver rather than renewing to the current version of the RS account.

If so, then some percentage of the currently open Halifax RS accounts won't be eligible to renew, even if LBG don't do anything about the terms.

I suspect there will be a variation in the terms (they also still say "New customers open online only"), but if not then keeping the associated Everyday Saver open might be an advantage (if not already closed).

    Santander RS - funding

I opened the above 10/07 and funded the same day. Now all my standing orders have gone through, I transferred £200 from my Santander current account to the RS this morning, then remembered that my month runs from 11-10th of the month, is this going to be an issue as I've paid too early?

    Make £2023 in 2023 (#36) £3479.30/£2023

    Make £2024 in 2024...

Just wanted to say thanks for this guide @Yorkshire_Pud.

One small note re my experience - I did the first part of this, 'renewing' my Monthly Saver to an Easy Access account, not long before midnight - having then logged out and back in, when I tried to 'renew' the account back from an Easy Access to the new 8% Monthly Saver I just got a blank (white) screen, this happened in both the app and on the web.

I left it for a bit and tried again maybe half an hour later after midnight and the 'renew' screen duly appeared (i.e. it was no longer blank) with various options including the 8% Monthly Saver.

Whether trying to do this this shortly before midnight actually had anything to do with the glitch I can't say, but it did work - albeit not straight away .

One point to make - I did try but failed to find any 'official' information as to what happens if you close a Lloyds Monthly Saver early (or convert/ 'renew' it into a different account type), i.e. before the normal 12 month maturity, in terms of whether and how interest is paid. The only 'definitive' but wrong answer I got was from Google's ever 'helpful' AI overview which confidently stated that the interest earned would be forfeited - this is of course not how it worked in practice!
