Just popped in my local Halifax branch and have been told the regular saver is not open to new customers, I was (as expected) redirected to try Lloyds.

Worth a go, got 2 out of 3 which isn't (ain't?!) bad.

As per my branch visit (above post) it appears not, completely closed off.

1% interest on £2500 for 4 months is not £25, it is just over £8

There is no minimum pay in each month, but if you do pay in it has to be £25-£250

In December 2025 my local Halifax branch could not open any accounts, but could make me an appointment at a branch 20 miles away for slots in a 4 hour window in one day of the week when someone did open accounts. I eventually solved what was stopping the online method from working. Eight months ago Halifax did not encourage new custom, now they really don't want it.

What did they say when you pointed out the Halifax Summary Box says new customers can apply online? Maybe they meant new customers can't apply in branch?

How are you guaranteed 8% on the last 8 months how much did you have in this new 8% account in the last 8 months ? 8% on nothing is not much.

RS experts out there.... any benefit in waiting to open / fund this on 31st July, then put in the next £250 on 1st August?

If my maths is correct I believe it gains you about an extra £9. If I’m thinking through the logic incorrectly, it’s about 82p
