Thank you both. I applied again on mobile rather on website just now and this time I have email confirmation that account has been opened. I'll check later on and fund.
Edited to add, account opened and funded within 20 mins of opening.1 -
Suffolk RS maturing end of July
For those with this product wondering how to withdraw money and interests at the end of the term please find the answer I got from Suffolk today:
"Around 14 days before your account matures at the end of the month, you will be able to save your maturity instructions yourself in the online service. We will write to you, and a button called ‘check out your options’ will appear. You will then be able to instruct us to close the account to your nominated bank account"
Of course make sure your nominated account has been duly registered and verified

FWIW, I've just had a Suffolk 'Online 1 Year Fixed Rate Regular Saver (30.06.2026)' mature, having given instructions using the method described - account wasn't showing in online banking on the 30th, and funds arrived in my NA just after midnight on the 1st.

I had the same experience with the Suffolk BS One Year Online Fixed Rate Saver (30.6.2026).
The timeline was as follows:-
(1) Maturity options showed online about the middle of June. The balance expected to be paid on maturity (including the interest) was clearly shown. I chose to withdraw the full balance and interest to my nominated bank account. Message given that proceeds would be in my nominated account on 1st July
(2) Account disappeared from online listing on 30th June.
(3) Maturity proceeds appeared in my nominated account shortly before midnight on 30th June, so no wait required on 1st July. Helpful to know if funds required to feed other accounts on 1st of the month (but perhaps not safe to rely on this for future maturities)

They're getting worse!
Just closed my 36 and 37. Still have 38.

Halifax
I have the Halifax regular saver, I opened it well over a year ago but ended up never funding it due to enough other savers available above the rate threshold and due to the withdrawal restriction. The saver reneed at some point and still remains unfunded, at least for now.
Can I request for it to be closed by CS and open a new one or am I stuck with it? What are my options?

The online and branch/post versions have different processes.
The branch/post version requires a signed form and the passbook to be taken or posted to SBS, they cannot process instructions given online only. Furthermore, a withdrawal request for the branch/post version won't be actioned until the day after maturity, so you either have to wait till then to visit a branch, or post/leave the passbook with them to process.
That said, having left my passbook with a branch earlier this week, the withdrawal was processed yesterday and my passbook arrived at home safely this morning. Royal Mail obviously having a good day.

What is interesting is that if that is your only account with them, like mine was, it's closed and you are no longer a customer. I can't login to their site anymore!

Upgrade it in online banking (not mobile) to an easy access. It’s immediate and then you should be able to open a new one.

I've experienced that with other banks/BSs; thankfully, I have plenty of other Suffolk RSs, so not an issue for me at the moment…
