Suspect it’s a loss leader to maybe encourage people NOT to switch accounts away etc. Also market leading headline rate, so I think it may be around for a little while but that’s just my opinion.

Well you've answered your own question already 😁

We can only speculate. From my experience, it tends to be smaller building societies who withdraw accounts quickly, bigger banks tend to stick around for longer.

First Direct have consistently offered their 7% account for quite a while now, and presumably are offering it as a loss leader to pull in current account customers. Santander have chosen to offer a massive market leading rate to knock FD off their perch. From this I would deduce that they'll be offering it long-term, but that's just a guess. I'm surprised that they haven't tied it to the Edge current account to attract some fee-paying customers.

Santander closure requested yesterday afternoon, actioned this morning, new account opened and funded.

My RS's are a right mess regarding timing. This is one of 3 opened this month, I've got a massive gap next year between February to May with nothing maturing. Got several maturing in August, November and December. Will need to juggle where funding for these are coming from very carefully in future.

Tell me about it! But on the upside, with the 5 I opened this month, that’s £15k maturing in June 2027 haha!

Requested mine yesterday morning and I'm still waiting...

I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?

    Dudley RS-1225:

Do you have to enclose a cheque for the initial deposit along with the postal application, or can it be done by Faster Payment after the account has been opened?

you can deposit later by FP once the account is open - also, you can email the completed form to Dudley BS instead of posting if that is easier for you.

Something I think it will be useful for those waiting to fund their new Regular saver. Timing for the deposit to appear in your account is normally around 2 days as confirmed during a phone call made today (same 'timing' for Furness and Scottish BS). The system is been updated a couple of times a day normally, but the backlog is still 'important' so delays are possible. I sent the first deposit on June 22nd and it appeared few moments ago manually posted by the kind person who answered the phone. The transaction has been noted as June 22 nd so no loss of interests. The nominated account is, at least for now, still pending, but it will eventually be verified manually by the Building society in due course as confirmed in the same phone call

This account seems to come and go. I've seen it on the website, now it's a 404 error. Can anyone give a link that works?
