I think they meant delaying funding, this way you can't take a full advantage of this product.

Can you have the Santander regular saver, without having one of their current accounts?

    Bucks BS

Maybe they go through applications alphabetically by surname? 😅 I applied on Thursday evening and had no issues - received online access details immediately (the 2x emails "Welcome to MyBBSAccounts" & "Registration Successful") but still waiting on confirming account info so I can pay in. My surname starts with a W so bit "late" in the alphabet. 😝

    Santander

Great news! Opened and funded near enough immediately. Did not have the old 5% version as it was below my threshold but 8% is a totally different proposition!

"Eligibility. You can only have one of these accounts and it must be in your sole name. You must be 16 or over and live in the UK. You can have this account if you have a Santander current account (but not a 1I2I3 Mini account held in Trust), whether in your sole name or joint names."

According to this you can't have it without current account. In any case external deposits are not allowed, so you have to have an account with Santander for internal transfers.

    Santander Regular saver

All previous Santander RS's have had an issue number (except the first one). The most recent one was Issue 21. The new RS issued today is just called Regular Saver. I assume that the account number identifies it as one of these new 8% variable ones. This may be the first of a new series of open-ended RS's structured on a variable rate plus generous variable bonus for a year.

Definitely not alphabetical order - my surname is near the start of the alphabet, I had been wondering if they were working backwards through the alphabet!
