I think the issue is deeper in that Bob has read that it can be beneficial to fund the first month of a high interest regular saver as late as possible without finding out why.

Not a problem until you hit the £300 limit per account month. The app puts up a message when you go to the 'Add money' screen telling you what you can add and when it resets.

Me too and I have to say that all PBS savings rates are now imo dismal and uncompetitive 🤔, which is a shame as they've been super in the past.

I have the First Home Steps Account with £1 plus interest so that shall maintain my PBS membership if there isn’t a Christmas version worth snapping up later this year. I’ve never had more accounts than permitted so the last 6 monther is up in August.
The 6 Month RS at 5% is very poor considering it’s 4.75% fixed for a whole year… they only have to hold the rate for half as long, rate uncertainty being what I had assumed to be the reason for 6 month terms in the first place.

To be fair to Principality have offered a 6 Month RS at either 8% or 7.5% continuously since 2024, remaining either at the top or near the top for the best part of 2 years then allowed many people to hold duplicate versions of this account for much of this time. This is in addition to the other regular savers they've offered alongside it (including Christmas RSs at 7% and 6.5%).
Personally I think they've been very generous when it comes to regular savers these last couple of years. I wouldn't expect any bank/building society to offer a top or near top rate forever.

I think we've all got very used to having Principality as our go-to top-paying regular saver, it feels a bit strange for them to offer something so un-competitive. I haven't been playing the RS game for as long as some as you have, so I can't remember a time when Principality weren't top dog.
