The Top Regular Savers Discussion Thread

it’s a shame about Principality. I like them a lot but unless something appears worth having in next few months seems my days of saving with them will pause once current products mature.

Obviously I'm happy to have those posts split out if that is what people feel is best, but when I previously sounded out the issue it was indicated that they were welcome here, which was why I picked up the discussion here, rather than somewhere else. I thought it may be of general interest to this community.

From my point of view if people are discussing it specifically in relation to regular savers then I've no issues with people using this thread and would say this is far from being the worst thread to have that discussion in, if people wish to have the same discussion about savings accounts more generally (i.e. the focus is not just regular savers and talk about easy access accounts etc) then I would've taken a different view and would have said a separate thread would've been more appropriate.
Whilst I appreciate the arguments on both sides and I would imagine the forum team's job isn't as easy as it may seem at first glance, I personally wouldn't've intervened to attempt to move the discussion away from this thread had I been the one in the position of making a decision on the matter, although as ever I cannot personally overrule the forum team do not feel strongly enough on the matter to seek to reverse it.

Well, on the plus side it does allow the discussion to be broadened out.

Indeed, which is ultimately what it boils down to so far as I'm concerned and why I don't feel strongly enough to seek to reverse the decision. I take the view that this thread is somewhere that all things to do with regular savers can be discussed, thus all the time the discussion is generally about regular savers then I've no issues whatsoever with people using this thread.
If people want to move beyond regular savers and onto other types of account then at that point I would say a separate thread is preferable, though it also depends to some extent on how busy the regular savers landscape is, if things are quieter with regards to regular savers more generally then I'm more likely to tolerate things that are on the outskirts of the scope of this thread, if things are busier (e.g. a 10% regular saver got launched out the blue) then I'm minded to be more interventionist in my approach to this thread.

Haven't seen it mentioned yet but the Principality BS 1 Year Triple Access Regular Saver at 4.75% is now NLA and doesn't appear to've been replaced.

This was an anomaly among PBS's regular savers in having a variable rate of interest and has become uncompetitive over the last year. Also the £50 monthly limit meant it wasn't really worthwhile for savers. Not surprised that it has been jettisoned.

Loughborough RS rate reductions 1st April
Finally received three letters by post today relating to the rate drop. So only 5 days notice while the terms require 14. As others have said the letters are dated 13 March.

I opened it on the basis that an additional c7.0% 6 month RS could (then) be a maturity option…

I considered doing the same but, since I received my first ever maturity option rejection (the audacity!) and the fact I already have 3 issue 5's, I think I'll give it a miss.
