"Nothing you have said explains why you seem to feel there is something involving "fooling the masses"…
Perhaps you might care to expand on that…"
As I posted
"As for his rather simplistic description as to why energy suppliers have increased prices recently, I'll hold my counsel for now."

As I said, when I checked the BG website last night at 6pm they were offering me a fixed rate tariff.
I did say
"Save for Ovo Energy, does anyone know of any other energy supplier who has stopped offering fixed tariffs recently"
Whilst it may have been only my interpretation of what Greg said (to me it seemed like most if not all other suppliers had ceased offering fixed rate tariffs, hence his justification for applying £150 early exit fees) , it is without doubt that he says "companies" i.e. plural

Can someone please clarify the recent fixes that have been available because I think I'm getting some incorrect information from Octopus customer service.
I was on the November V3 Fix (north west region), I checked energy club last Thursday and it showed an Octopus February V6 Fix at £25 a year cheaper for me and this did not include the 1st April reduction which would reduce the tariff prices further. The change tariff is not available in my account so I have to email in to change to this tariff. I thought, well £25 is better in my pocket, I wish I'd not bothered now.
Octopus first replied that only V7 was now available. V7 is a dearer tariff so I asked why I can't have V6 as it was still being shown on the MSE Energy Club as available. After the weekend, I had a reply that V6 was available and would I like to change to this tariff. I accepted and received an automated tariff change email with the new tariff details. At the time I didn't notice that it said "prices based on rates from 1st April" even though it said start date 2nd March and doesnt' specifically state which version of February Fix. However, when I check my account it says the tariff is V7 which are totally different rates to V6 and different to the email confirmation. I have queried this and basically been fobbed off telling me it will change on 1st April to the correct unit prices.
At this stage I would be better off back on the November fix I had with the "1st April reductions", whatever they are, applied to that. How do I best deal with the mess that has been made?

Received a email this afternoon they are going renew my Octopus Go on the 10th April for a further 12 months. They have not indicated anything as regard the rate or exit penalty.

If you were previously fixed, they normally give you the option to lock-in the next fix, but were you on a fixed version of 'Go'?
If not then no exit fees and no need to confirm the tariff details right now…

In my region at least Feb v6 is cheaper than Nov v3, you can check for yourself put in postcode do not click get quote, filter domestic/fixed, click on historical which will be showing pre 1 April rates.

What date and time did you send the email ? V6 ended 26 February at 5:00PM give or take 5 mins. So as long as you sent it before then you'd expect them to honour it.
Also you are better of ringing them to get it fixed not using email.

I actually tried to find out what time the V6 tariff was withdrawn, so thank you for that info. My email was just after 1pm on the 26th February.
I have always emailed to change tariffs or any queries I've had, never had a problem and the responses have always been efficient (until now) plus I have everything in writing.

Yes but it's better to ring when things go wrong in my experience. Sounds like they ought to honour it if you can get a real person to speak too.
