If you read further along the thread you'll find that Fat Fairy did indeed apologise for her comments ;)

I have indeed read the full thread and found her further commnets and others to still be very bullying...and have reported as such to MSE.

How would she have felt if that had been the last straw and the lady committed suicide?

I knew I shouldnt have come back to this free for all site...its easy to bully whilst hiding behind a keyboard dont you think?

Glad the lady has made some progress...i wish I could. I look forward to receiving the comments from them telling me to get a grip and look on the bright side.

sorry that should read further comments as being bullying...i would also say that the damage has been done..

I was originally searching to see if I could find anythingon mental illness to help me but i have come away feeling more anxious and there is nothing to help me on this farce of a forum

We probably would never have found out, just thought that she'd decided not to come back. And as for the 'unhelpful and bullying comments' I agree that the only way forward is to push yourself into doing things that you find difficult or see as impossible. This may sound b*tchy or snidey or whatever but my boyfriend is currently receiving support for alcoholism and he's missed the 2 previous sessions, he didn't contact them to let them know. This made me rather angry as that was 2 sessions wasted that someone else who also needed them could have had. He is also making no effort to stop drinking, he tells me that it's too hard but this is the only road to recovery...

And before you start shouting off about me having had no experience of anything like this etc etc, remember that you don't know me or my history at all and if you'd continued reading then you would have discovered that Fat Fairy had posted that she actually did have quite a lot of experience with mental disorders/disabilities.

Also this isn't a forum dedicated to mental disorders so I'm not sure why you expected it to help you. If you had a problem with benefits or were looking for the cheapest cooker then we may have been able to help you.

LadyM- I hope you're doing ok and I'm sorry if any of the comments I've just made have in any way upset you, that was not my intention at all xx

This forum if for Benefits advice not help with mental health. It is not a farce of a forum, it has alot of people who give good advice to those who need it so you should be careful what you say.

This kind of offhand comment is exactly why people like hazeyj have been put off posting. You expect her/him to not judge you because they don't know you, equally you and other posters should be careful how they reply to people who might be vulnerable which if they are looking for help with mental health they clearly already are. It seems very fickle on this forum who is seen to be a 'good cause' that everyone bends over backwards to help and who becomes put down and dismissed as being on 'the wrong forum'.

    hazeyj,
I hope you will continue to post, there are plenty of people that will help you.

And so should you when addressing someone who says they have mental health issues.

  • I wasn't implying that s/he was on the wrong forum, I was simply pointing out that this being moneysavingexpert.com it might indicate to hazeyj that s/he may not get the type of support that they might find on a forum dedicated solely to mental health disorders.

I also feel that life goes on, the world doesn't stop (this was one of the hardest lessons I ever learnt) and unfortunately many people who need support are not given it, but I believe that everyone has a responsibility to themselves to try to help themselves, they cannot expect other people to constantly pick up the pieces which is what a few people I know expect. And I'm not implying that I mean anyone here, before anyone starts.

However I do believe in free speech and being able to voice your own opinions

There was nothing wrong with my post, it was clear and polite. Pick on someone else.
