That's a good idea. However, we have 2 quite big double windows in the kitchen plus one large set of French doors (which lead to the conservatory) and we'd prefer them all to match.....that would be a lot of tea towels.weenancyinAmerica said:@Narc0lepsy - I made my kitchen curtains out of terry tea towels.
-one load washing done
- one load through DW
- went to DanceFit
- went to Alexander lesson
- did a bit more 'activitie planning' for the year
- did some drumming practice
- went to zumba
- put away clean Christmas clothes
- did a bit more knitting
So not exactly all flying, but all fairly ok.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.
It's tough getting rid of the past but it does free up space for the future.8 -
I'm not sure I have many real curtains in my house. I used shower curtains and lined them with fuzzy sheets for two rooms and am using fleece blankets in two of the bedrooms. I started to use a duvet cover with a thin fleece blanket quilted into it for another window, but haven't finished it yet. I just don't like looking at curtains for some reason.7

@weenancyinAmerica can we have pictures...i'm intrigued.
Got an offer on a much-listed ebay item so I have accepted. Now to get it packed.
Off to the cinema this afternoon to see Hamnet with my pal, thanks to DD's code.
WM, DW & TD have all been deployed.

Morning all xx
I was up and on this morning with another 9am appointment at the Surgery. Bloods taken. BP machine brought home.
I've made my bed, taken my meds, turned over the calendars, changed Joey's seed and water, eaten breakfast, supped a brew, fed the birds, put out the recycling, FUPA the airer, completed Strands with no hints, completed Wordle in five, completed Connections with no lives lost (purple line first again), and I'm enjoying a coffee.
Change of mind /plan with my Just One Thing. I'm going to apply the principle to my kitchen worktop which is visible before moving on to my CoD which is hidden behind the door.

Afternoon all,
I was inordinately pleased with yesterday’s flying efforts, not least because I also cleaned the top oven. Result, so thank you ladies. I have a freezer inventory sitting with the meal plan, but the jar shelf of doom inventory is a work in progress.
Today’s efforts are being hampered by the carpet fitter, who is recarpeting the landing and stairs. I managed to change the bedding and bring it down before he arrived. Wm has been run, washing draped, birthday card for DSis written and posted.Round, best to get everything checked, but I know what you mean about going in for one thing and coming out with other things that you never knew you might have xx6 -
I feel as though I've let you down Round about the Cupboard of Doom, racing ahead and finishing it before you even had a chance to get started. There are plenty others here I need to sort, so whenever you start yours I'll be right alongside you doing one of my others. I happen to agree that the visible stuff is more important - if you can't see it, is it anywhere near as discombobulating as stuff in the way in spaces we want to use and have to see every day? Not to me, anyway. How do people feel about cashews that are out of date (May 2024)? I know ood peanuts are a no no, but as cashews are really nuts, does anyone think they'd be dangerous, inadvisable or safe? For once, these aren't my fault - I found them in the back of a man-cave in the kitchen.I've finished inventorying the herbs and spices, found some duplicates, found some ood stuff that I've chucked, found some ood stuff that I've kept (cloves, peppercorns, salt - salt that's been in a cave for millions of years apparently only lasts nano seconds when it's put in a pot and sold), and saffron that's slightly out of date, but it's saffron so that's not getting chucked. I also did an inventory of a deep foodshelf in the kitchen which is my responsibility. I need to type this information up in a spreadsheet so I can ponder it all together but today is not the day.My get up and go has got up and gone. Not sure I'll be good for much more today.Better is good enough.Note to self: Motivation follows Action, not the other way around.6

Evening,
No really had a good day. Had a bad night's sleep, bad dreams caused by my meds. Woke in the middle of the night thinking some was knocking at the front door. Went down, put the chain on, opened the door, noone there. I don't know if it was part of one of my dreams and it woke me up but it was very strange.
Spent the first part of the morning phoning DD2 to wake her up. After 5 times of "half hour more" she decided she needed more sleep. She had been ill on Monday so ended up not coming over for play day with GS but I'm annoyed I wasted time phoning her.
I was also annoyed with myself as I've lost a knitting pattern. I've retraced my step from the weekend but can't find it. It's mot urgent but hopefully it'll pop up somewhere.
I didn't get as much done as I hoped (no change there). I've unloaded the DW. Done one load in the WM and TD it. It hasn't made its way upstairs yet though.
I hoovered the landing and stairs, the cat shredded more of his scratch pad all over the place, and then the hoover died so that's back on charge. I also found out why it's not been picking up so well. It seems there was a hair blockage in the pipe/stick bit but I've cleared that now.
I've S/S the kitchen and changed all the cloths and towels.
Haven't been able to have the windows open as it's been piddling down all day but I have remembered to put the rubbish out for tomorrow's collection.
I had a video call from DD2 and her cat while I was writing my post. She seems fine now and I had her telling me all the jobs she'd got done today.
Not sure how much I'll get done tomorrow as I'm going out with DD1's MIL ish and her friend instead of on Thursday. They're taking me to some craft scrap store they've found so that might be interesting. I must remember not to buy anything I don't need.
I'm off to cook dinner now

A happy afternoon watching Hamnet. Cinema audience was largely 'ladies-of-a-certain-age'. It was BLISS as the audience were so SILENT.
DD isn't coming home until Friday so I can largely please myself meal and cleaning wise...
Another sale on ebay - an antique item no less! Got a bid a bit under list price but as it's been relisted a few times I snatched her hand off. Posted.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson
