Afternoon all. DH has just disappeared to help DS2 fit a new pump into their shower so I have a bit of free time.
The stew for dinner tonight is bubbling away with enough to freeze for two more meals; had to go out just for leeks and the nearest place was Sainsbury's which I try to avoid - took me ages to queue up. What a waste of time. Will not be going in there again if I can help it.
My kitchen is a mess because I haven't cleared up after lunch and still have all the dishes I used for making dumplings and crumble mix. I'll clear that up then start taking the decorations down. DH was supposed to be helping but I'd rather he helped DS2 with his shower - we can finish up here tonight and tomorrow if necessary.
I am sending more (((hugs))) to all those who are unwell - I don't think anyone is escaping from illness this winter. Speedy recovery to you all and more (((hugs))) to all those who are looking after poorly ones.
SALOPMAN - welcome; men are allowed on here too! The more the merrier!
Welcome to all the other newbies - lovely to see so many joining us; looking forward to getting to know you all.
Someone mentioned the 'simplifying thread'? I must check that out soon. I've been trying to catch up on a severely neglected house this week but intend to start a serious declutter soon and need some inspiration!
Anyway, I had better go and get cleared up then start on the decorations. I can't wait to get the downstairs back to normal.
See you all later and, again, many many (((hugs))) to all who are unwell.

KYLE - my local Curves opened last year. When I joined - in July - I paid a one-off joining fee of £59 and I pay £29 per month by direct debit. If you visit the three times a week they recommend it works out at £2.40 per session which I think is quite good value. I thoroughly enjoy it; the atmosphere is great, the work-out is fun and I never feel self-conscious. I haven't made the most of my membership because I have been ill twice since I joined but I intend to stay healthier this year.
Anyway, I thoroughly recommend it. When yours opens it might have a special offer week to encourage people to join.
Cheers

Sorted out the cupboards yesterday and now have several items to use up before their dates run out! so trying to find recipes to use up 3 Bags of Ground Almonds:rolleyes:
I have alot of stuff still, so I shouldnt need much from the shops and am trying to avoid going in and spending so much!! - Well thats my resolution!! whether it lasts remains to be seen!! :rotfl:
Went to Lakelands (Bluewater) yesterday and got a couple of things in the sale I wanted - Cracker Keeper, the pastry brush, adjust a slice (cos I'm hopeless at cutting bread!:rotfl: ) and the last Potato Bag!:D
Got home and the cracker box had a small crack on one corner:o Anyway emailed them and they replied saying they will post a replacement!:D So good on ya customer service;)
I went back to the gym this week, and it was ok...especially as I was dreading it would be hard!! LOL think I will take the kids next time - they could do with half hour run on the treadmill:rolleyes:

Afternoon all
Sympathies to all the poorlies - still feeling like a hamster today and DD1 has just informed me that she's got an upset tummy - here we go again!
Welcome to all the newbies - I'd offer you a hug or a handshake but you really don't want the germs.
Will you lot all shush about this gym lark - you're making me feel so lazy (although I've lost weight over xmas - no scales so can't say how much but about everythings feeling a little looser :j )
Popped to Sainsbugs this morning had a £4 off £20 voucher to use today - really didn't need much and found it hard to spend, so that's the shopping budget £34 under this week - long may it last!
DH has just taken DD2 off to the walk in clinic to get her foot checked out - she's been complaining that it's been hurting for a couple of days - no bruises, she's not twisted it that she knows off but there's something wrong as it's swollen and really bad circulation.
Supposed to be cooking a romantic dinner for the 2 of us tonight (if being snotty and sneezy is romantic - oh and don't forget the nice red nose!) as it's our 6th anniversary on Monday, we don't go in for the present and card swapping stuff but normally try and treat ourselves to a nice meal (in this year as we're broke) There's a bottle of champagne in the fridge (pressies from DH's boss) but I'm not sure I should have any - I think one glass might just knock me out for the rest of the night. (or maybe that's DH's way of getting control of the remote?)
Anyway - enough waffle - hope you all have a great evening."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Afternoon all
Took DS swimming as planned which was good, he's really coming on. Before we went I packed coats, wellies, his scooter, a picnic and a flask of tea as I wasn't sure where we were going after. Ended up on one of the beaches looking in rock pools with DS collecting flint.
It was freezing, supposed to be 9 deg here but felt much less. Have just had hot chocolate with a medicinal Baileys in it to recover:D .
Looking forward to my chicken curry which is bubbling away in the slow cooker. I always put chickpeas and other veg in mine so it goes further. OH is at work tonight so will probably have an early night. Think I have exhausted DS;) .
welcome to new posters, nice to see Men joining us.
Have a good night :A xxxxx0 -
evening all,
Late posting today, as we had a bit of a lie in, then a late breakfast then been out walking all day, I bought myself a new north face jacket on ebay and had to test it, it is lovely and snug, just right for me as I always feel the cold, walked for about 8 miles, and little dog is now fast asleep in her basket.
We have got steak sandwiches for tea, treated ourselves I do them with fried onions and toms all squashed into french loaf scrummy
Went to Bognor yesterday (amie I waved in your direction) there is a massive new look there, managed to get DD 7 new tops for £15, was very pleased with that.
Sorry to hear that so many people are ill, my mum has got that stomach virus thing, and had not been able to keep anything in either end for 5 days now  , poor thing is really fed up, but no one can visit because it will spread then.
Welcome to all the newbies, and yes men are 'allowed' we don't bite, well Aussie might, be careful of her.
Have good evenings all

Evening all.
Have spent most of the afternoon cleaning the kitchen floor and marking more mocks... hope to get them all done this evening so I can get what I can done tomorrow.
Met OH in town today and we got ourselves and Easiyo in the Julian Graves sale, really hope we can get cracking with some yummy, fresh yogurt as OH is addicted and I need it to boost my calcium levels. We have our first batch on the go now.
Have had a stream of hot drinks and good films to get me through the marking, it's incredibly frustrating and am angry with a few of them, I hate having to mark my own class!
Right, I'm going to put on my dressing gown, hat and another pair of socks... it's freezing in this place but I'm not putting the heater on!! Also going to pop the kettle on again.....

Evening everyone. This is the first time I have actually managed to get near pc today!!! Not caught up with the thread yet, so ((hugs)) for those who need or would like one. Hope all who are ill get well soon and all who are well stay well. We went round town today to get kids new school shoes-after 20 minutes the bottom of my back was agony. I don't know why but this has been happening on and off for a few months-and I don't have to have done anything for my back to suddenlt hurt. Probably have to go see dr next week to see what's what. My youngest bought some lacoste pink today with her christmas money. It was a good deal £24.95 for perfume and body lotion? should have been £37.00 (bought it at boots and I got the points!!!) Better take OH his cuppa. Catch you all soon.GE 36 *MFD may 2043
