Saturday 5th January - Os Thread

Good morning.. this is the Daily Thread for 05/01/08. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well

Morning, I'm not a regular poster on the OS thread but can't sleep so I thought I would pop in and see how you are all doing.

I really need to get my act together and get some housework done, haribo, any chance you want anymore ironing, I have a pile the size of Ben Nevis here. As for cleaning the cooker/oven, I cooked homemade burgers tonight and the blinking smoke detector constantly went off, I need to find time to clean that at some point, I am being rather lazy just now, I think I will get into the swing of it next week when the children return to school on Tuesday. (but I have a book I would like to read in peace..decisions!)

Hugs to all those unwell and have a great Saturday.

morning all, very tired today. DD has a bad cough and has been up since 4:30am, i have to be in work at 8am so not impressed. i need sleep!!!
oh was very good and sat up with her first but i gave up trying to get back to sleep as her crying kept me awake anyway.
not doing much today. working 8am-3pm and then back to bed for a nap. might do some ironing later and i'll run the vac around.
    hugs to all who follow
  • Good morning - Heather I know how you feel- DD woke up at 5 - her nose is blocked - now she is happily chasing the cat so I thought I pop on here for a quick post.

It is all set in FM household for a role reversal back to me being WAHM - work at home mum - and dh going back to a job. I tell you my house needs it - in the 5 months he has been working from home and me going to work, the house really suffered. Yesterday when I was off, I managed to sort a lot of the drawers out in the sideboard in the front room. My dh thinks cleaning is shuffing everything inside a drawer!

I made my own vegan pate yesterday and I am quite pleased with the outcome - it's heading into the right direction and tastes lovely - and above all I now have pate to feed the 5,000 as we would say in Germany but I don't care since the stuff freezes well in portions. A great alternative for sandwiches and the only fat in it is from the 1/2 cup of nuts. The pate has about 20 portions (i.e. 20 sandwiches) and the whole thing cost about £2 to make - so each sandwich topping is 10p - not bad.

Morning everyone. Farily new to this thread, but I am ever so interested and hope to make some new online friends. I am normally at work on overtime on a Sat, but day off to watch the mighty Cambridge Utd take on Wolves in football. Taking DS on coach for a day out. Looking forward to it. All efforts at the moment in not spending any money. Wife works from home and will have the house to herself today as DD is working part time on a Sat only.
Heather38 hope DD gets better soon.

Good Morning Everyone - sorry to hear of the poorly littlies today - very miserable for them and their parents when they can't sleep.
DH also has this chest infection - I suspect our combined wheeziness may be keeping the dogs awake at night! Still, the antibiotics should kick in sometime over the weekend. I need to sort out the deccies - the box looks full and we haven't yet taken any down. Methinks I should be ruthless and discard loads. Big shop needed later, need to check supplies first. Ironing basket is empty (I woke up at 5.30am!) and BM needs to be on. May make more soup and do some sewing later, plus hoovering. Only been back at school two days and the house already looks a tip.
Yesterday's thread showed how many OSers are unwell - hope everyone gets better fast. Take care - and (((HUGS))) all round.

    Morning all :D

Yesterday was horrible, every time I coughed I thought I was going to wet myself  (I didn't, just in case you were wondering :D ). My tummy muscles ache from coughing so hard, and I generally ache from my hips up to the top of my head, though my legs are OK  :D

I'll take it easy again today, it's mr tru's birthday tomorrow and we're going out for a meal. Don't want to cancel it, specially as the kids are coming. They don't usually want to come anywhere with us, I think we're meant to feel honoured  :rotfl:

    Morning all

Up early today as we are off to the auction - have checked the online catalogue, and there are more greetings cards  For anyone who has seen my declutter thread, they will know that more cards is the last thing I need, but I can sniff a profit :D

Managed to reserve three of the £9.37 hampers from Tesco yesterday, so my DS and sister will be getting one each later. I just love this site, I also got the Avon glitch items, so am feeling very pleased with myself :j

Sorry to hear some LOs aren't well, hope they feel better soon, and (((hugs))) to all their mummies and daddies whose sleep patterns are suffering

Hope everyone has a good day x

    Goodmoring everyone,

Well the rain has gone to be replaced by steamy, humid weather with a zillion mosquito's. Our friends have come and gone. Got here around 10am and are leaving on the 6pm ferry. DH has just walked them down. They have drank copious amounts of beer :D. I hate beer so stuck to elderflower cordial. ;)

Off to visit DH's rellies in Ipswich tomorrow. Having lunch there. I'm taking over some tomato relish. Lucky ducks you probably think. :D I was going to make up a slice as well but I've run out of steam. Talking is hard work. ;)

Hope all you sickies get better soon. Will pop back later. Byeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

Morning, been up since 6 and want to go back to bed now! Will do some housework instead. Hoping there might be weekend flat buyers out there who'll want to look at our place so might as well spruce it up a bit.

Then get out for a nice walk instead of sitting on my bum all day. :D
