I got my hair cut today and had a nice chat with the young woman who cut my hair. She made a good point to me about the local volunteering opportunities as that is something I want to do this year. I gave her some financial advice as I thought she could turn her hobby into a way of making extra money as she wants to get on the property ladder.

The weather was dreadful today. Really cold and rainy and horrible. I was very glad to get home and I made a batch of HM soup.

I overheard a woman in the hairdressers say something about a tragic fire that killed a member of her family and I realised that the request for the free home fire safety check I sent off had no response.  I'm going to call them tomorrow (if they are open weekends) to make sure it gets done.

I have a very relaxing weekend ahead that I am looking forward to. :) I am going to wear my new red chazzer jumper out tomorrow.

We had this tragic fire happen relatively close over Xmas: https://www.stroudnewsandjournal.co.uk/news/25749866.police-update-brimscombe-hill-house-fire-tragedy/  DD has met the (surviving) husband a few times through her work and says he's a lovely chap.  It clearly touched the hearts of many people everywhere, as the gofundme appeal has raised a huge amount. I cannot even begin to contemplate how you can come back from such an event and my heart truly goes out to him :(

Finally reboxed up the Xmas tree today. (Decs came off it on Sunday) I took the crate of baubles out to the garage to go up in the loft, but DH will need to take the tree out, as it is far too heavy for me!

Have made an effort to wear something bright at work every day this week and have had compliments several times. Crazy socks have featured most days, too 😁

Down to the last of the Christmas cream, mixed with a bit of milk now, to top our soup, after offering the decanted remains as an accompaniment to the crumble and custard I made for the community lunch. About half a pint was used and of course, it pours so much better from a bottle

I decanted it to a glass bottle so nobody could see the BB-date on it, and any crusty bits were left in the pot. It was fine (single cream).

Little bit of decluttering done while I was waiting for the roads to thaw. I pulled out a drawer of old underwear (nice stuff I bought years ago before I piled on the weight) and I've put it into piles of keep, sell (some still with tags) or donate, and bin.
I've taken to dogs to my friends farm and we all wrapped up to let them have a run in the field. My 4y/o dog got to play with their 2 y/o (they're best friends, similar energy, lots of face biting play fighting and running around). I don't normally let my greyhound off lead there but as there were 3 adult humans I did. My friends had never seen her run, not bad for a 10y/o. So after a week or  two of rubbish weather and limited walks they've had a fab afternoon.
I have some pretty hefty OATs to tackle this weekend (tax, boxes, new job palaver, and writing lecture notes), but I am off to the cinema this evening to see Labyrinth.
