I will catch up with reading too, but first up, Happy New Year to all, and some January OATs...
- Electrical work - has become more urgent thanks to the downstairs light circuit failing just before Christmas. Turns out not to be the obvious things, so needs more investigation - hopefully our sparky will be back on Friday.
- As he was round anyway, we've asked for a quote for other bits needing done - and will be aiming to get those done this month.
- Grocery spend challenge - this needs to be as low as possible as that incentive will encourage me to use what we have rather than buying other stuff.
- Go through the fridge to work out what in there wants using up. (mincemeat flapjacks to use the last of the christmas mincemeat before it crystalises?)
- Christmas veg - make sure it gets turned into edible things!
- chopping of kindling - a must-do as we are running low
- work out where we need wood-filler for, and what we need to buy to complete the tasks that need it.
And personal ones:
- make it a mission to get to the bottom of at least one tub of body butter - and the only way of doing this is by actually using it.
- USE FOOT CREAM! At least every few nights.
- sort out the face masks I have and get round to using them - this enforces sitting still and doing little for a short while.
My big new year thing is that I want to revamp my habits in the evenings by training myself to automatically reach for a book rather than my tablet or phone. I also want to get back to my yoga on a regular basis - I've picked up an old YWA 30 days of Yoga to help with this.
A couple already ticked off
- I agreed a price with my pal for a bit of camera kit he was interested in buying from me. All agreed, and he has transferred the money which has gone to my tech replacement pot.
- email sent to the magazine company asking where our first issue had got to as it was apparently published ages ago and we'd not had it - already had a reply to say they are sending a fresh copy.
Oh - and another I have just remembered
- I finally got round to sorting out the ID verification for Prolific so I have no excuse not to crack back on with surveys!

I forgot I booked the chiropodist and the hairdresser for this week. The workman who is replacing our kitchen cabinet doors got back to us with a date too.

Mr PIP took the bags to the charity shop so hallway is much clearer. We also decluttered a small packet of biscuits 😁3

I intend to finally start on some more decluttering for the CS tomorrow. Think I will start with kitchen drawers that I intended to do the other day, and then maybe some upstairs drawers.
Went for a lovely but very cold quick walk round the local park today, was beautiful when the sun was shining, but soooooo cold.
My joyous thing today is that I have just poured myself a glass of my Christmas sherry.....as they say....its 5 o'clock somewhere....LOLMaking the debt go down and savings go up

It definitely didn't feel as cold today, thankfully.
I went to see The Housemaid at the cinema today with a woman from my book group. Quite a few people gasped at the same bits so they obviously hadn't read the books.
It was only £6 a ticket so quite frugal. I bought a couple of jumpers in the M&S and New Look sales as I couldn't find much in the charity shops. I bought a necklace from New Look too and some of my favourite vegan chocolate from Holland & Barrett.

Oaty decluterring success. Months ago a box turned up with some of my old school papers. I tried to go through it but struggled. Yesterday I went through and was able to happily part with a bunch of old primary school exercise books. One of them included binary multiplication. Who knew that is in my brain somewhere!
OH and I also pruned 3 paperwork folders, tidied and moved some paperwork around There is more to do, and the rest of the schoolwork box but I am really pleased.
Don't ask about my friend's bag. I'm sewing. Started before his birthday April 24. His birthday is hoving into view again. It's kinda moneysaving as if I don't finish it Iwon't buy material for my next project. Oh, wait...https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6621582/ynab-robber-needs-help-to-execute-the-plan/p1

A kind neighbour was getting rid of lots of clothes so spent most of the day sorting through them rather than leaving bags in the living room for ages
Also making my way through a bag of orzo in the cupboard, the most confusing of all the pastas.
Found a bag of cushion covers I'd forgotten about so in the spirit of not saving things for best, I've updated some of our cushions and am very much enjoying them2 -
Wish I was decluttering biscuits! Instead we've been blocking up holes in the side of the house that the rats/mice are probably using, and I've been re-fitting the insulation in the loft that was hanging down because the mice have been partying in it 🤢
It's also reminded me of an OAT I'd entirely forgotten about - we had a chimney removed about 5 or 6 years ago, and that bit of loft doesn't have any insulation at all! It's not a big space but it should really have some! We've got some in the garage that'll do it, but it'll have to wait til after the weather now.4 -
Slowly but steadily making my way through the little bits and bobs of toiletries.
Also slowly but steadily making progress with getting my olio clothes haul ready for listings
And am wearing a big shiny ring for no reason other than to bring joy in this very January weather.
Decluttered a big chunk of panettone for breakfast though there's still a fair bit to go. I shall call on all my reserves of decluttering determination 😁6
