I have survived the week β¦
Apologies for the radio silence. Itβs been hectic and I have been tired.
Some adulting done:- Training went up a notch and rehab extended still further, which is great in many ways but itβs all getting time consuming π³
- Meter readings submitted - havenβt had the updated statement, which is unusual β¦ π€
- Sent off a Β£50 bag of organic whey powder that I didnβt want. I had been put on a subscription I didnβt know about and this was the second time that they state they have cancelled it. π If it happens again I will get very groompy on social meja β¦
- Ordered and collected my prescriptions.
- Had a head fit and bought some new work trousers, soooo much more comfortable and better fitting and I donβt feel like a scruff bag now! π
- Been doing tiny bits of decluttering - this afternoon removing a dead house plant and two dead mushroom containers that I use for veg scraps until they get too beaten up / fausty, from the conservatory.
Had a bit of time in the recliner in the garden this afternoon. I didnβt fall asleep but did doze. It was lush! π€© And needed π
Then spent a bit of time in the garden. Cleared enough space to get my chickpea seedlings in. Going to sow some more - probably three per pot as the germination rate is really poor. Topped up the begonia pots as they are growing out of them! They need permanent homes for the season but Iβm not sure if I have any spare pots yet β¦ π€

Excellent adulting, glad all is well. Doze in the garden sounds gorgeous

Thanks @beanielou π You too x
You are right of course Pip, but having worked so hard to be able to start training again, I want to keep going! The issue is doing (fairly complex, time demanding) rehab alongside training on a daily basis. Saying that, yesterday, I did completely βtake the day offβ - no rehab, no training, no walking after dinner. Had no head space for any of it at the end of a tough week. Just hydration (anyone else finding this easier now the weather is getting warmer! π), eating carefully (lots of protein, no snacks) and a bit of gardening activity.
Need to get back on it today though β¦It is finally starting to yield results. I lost almost a Kg this week and 2cm from my waist π (I have a fair way to go though!)

I am finding hydrating easier now ππ»ββοΈ
I also had a nice lie on our sun lounger a couple of times this week after making decisions to come home at lunchtime.

Good morning! Read the whole thing?! Wowsers! π³π There are some eccentric seques here, for which I can only apologiseβ¦ π
Yesterday was okay, not amazing but okay.
- Cleaning of bathroom and loo done. A bit overdue so thatβs a stain off my conscience scrubbed too! π Because Mr KK was replacing the failed double glazing panes of the whole of the dining room window, that window sill and all its ornaments ended up being cleaned as well π
-Lunch with friend, her turn to pay. Good mains - I had mushroom lasagne and side salad - the lasagne was excellent, a bit indulgent but not a huge portion so not too bad. We skipped dessert (they are not that special there) and went to a view point instead to continue our chat π Overall the day was an NSD π Friend thinks situation with her husband is approaching crisis point and there is nothing she can do but watch β¦-Worked in the garden in the most congested, uncultivated veggie bed - flipping hard work, didnβt make much progress and got one of those insect bites that bleeds β¦ π My spuds therefore are still not in the ground.
-Counselling session. Much discussion of how and when I feel safe - I even dredged up a memory of BOTH my parents caring for me when I came back from hospital when I was about 4 or 5 after having had my adenoids out. π I have homework to do - I have to draw my safe place. I have been doing this for years, itβs always the same. A house with a door and four windows, set in a hilly space with trees, flowers, sunshine and blue skies. Might go to town a bit on this today.
- Made a batch of the peanut butter baking sauce for tofu that somebody linked to here. Tofu went in the freezer when it arrived, so that is all set up for the week.
-All financial updates done and credit card bill reviewed. The CC bill is ouchy! Β£4.5K!! A lot of that is the car (MOT, new tyres, insurance, new component for car air con all at once) so I have the monies, but itβs gonna make a hole in my savings β¦.-Did training and rehab including first plank for six weeks! πππ€© My form was a bit off and it was a bit wobbly, but it didnβt hurt, both arms wobbled equally ππ and my shoulder didnβt hurt as a result of doing it. Also got out for a short walk after dinner.
Hoping for a less virtuous, more fun day today.

I need to vent β¦.
We have lived in this hamlet for 6 years. We moved in in the October before Covid so didnβt really see or meet anyone that first winter. There is a chapel and associated field at the bottom of our garden. We are not chapel goers but respectful of their beliefs. They do lots of fund raising through the year as the congregation is small and getting smaller as people age out. I always go to at least three events per year and spend as freely as I can, buying cakes and tat I donβt need.
2 years ago they started hiring out the chapel schoolroom to a local band as a rehearsal space, every other Tuesday. Unfortunately, because the gable end of our back garden faces the chapel windows and we have a courtyard with walls on three sides next to that gable end, the acoustics means that the sound, especially bass guitar and drums rattles around us. Itβs mildly annoying in winter to have a low level noise intrusion every other Tuesday evening until 9pm but bearable. In the summer though, when we have the patio doors open to the garden or want to sit outside it becomes more intrusive, and when they rehearse in the marquee the chapel puts up for summer events, it genuinely becomes unbearable. I have been in tears before now after a long day when I canβt escape the noise.
The band have now started rehearsing every week. π’We have mentioned this many times to the woman who manages the bookings and she gets them to βdial it downβ on that occasion and then it starts again the following session β¦ Mr KK has now absolutely had enough and has been researching who actually owns the building to raise a formal complaint with them. Iβm reluctant to βgo nuclearβ quite so quickly as being on poor terms with neighbours wonβt help us much. So to that end, Mr KK mentioned it in passing to the mower lady, driving past on her ride on mower this morning, who keeps the chapel field down. Unfortunately, she responded with βyouβve only been here two minutesβ and βwear ear plugsβ and βwe canβt hear itβ (they wouldnβt - there is a galley kitchen and the toilet as sound insulation between the schoolroom and them). Mr KK did not react well and by the time I walked up to the conversation, mower lady was in tears. Mr KK was polite but assertive as he is up to the back teeth with being βbrushed offβ on this issue. The upshot was that mower lady is going to βspeak to the committee to see if there is a compromiseβ. This is good in one way - the chapel needs the income, we respect that and we need peace and quiet. If the band could rehearse in the afternoons again (they are all retired) as they were in the winter, it would be bearable even in the summer.
I find I am genuinely hurt by the βyouβve only been here two minutesβ and the βwear ear plugsβ responses. Why do our concerns not matter at all? Why is there a hierarchy of being allowed to have some influence on the community? What was the point of my three years of parish council? I didnβt see myself as a friend of mower lady, but I genuinely thought that I was on better terms with her than that.Fed up.
