Read Giles Yeo 'Why Calories Don't Count' and then you can give up counting them :)

    Sounds like a lovely evening.

When it comes to food I've always found calorie trackers massively unhelpful and not necessarily leading me to a healthier lifestyle.

A peaceful evening in your own company sounds just the job.

I used to count calories and wasn't any the happier for it so stopped and ain't any the fatter for it.

A big slice of bread is approx 100, a little 'un 60ish, enough cheese to not generously but not skankily grate in a sarnie is about 100, a pint is about 200, a small glass of wine 100.

A portion of fruit is about 40, except raisins which are about 80-90, green veg is about 20, red etc veg is about 30-40. Half a tin of baked beans is approx 150-200, and an average woman's handful (not with closed fist!) of dried pasta is around 100.

I think that's all the essential food groups taken care of 😁

Obviously if anyone has health issues that require actual knowledge of calories, that is a rough guide off of what is in my head, but it pretty much evens out as long as you respect your tummy enough to listen when it says 'I'm full'

Then wren in the holly library. I pick up random things and just see how I like them. This has been the most uneven selection I’ve had from the library in a long time - three books I just abandoned and two that have been absolutely riveting … It will be interesting to see which camp this latest one falls into 😊

No I don't bother with that. If I eat less junk I am happy with that. Any kind of counting means I just give up, so I look it over and think oh not enough protein, not enough veggies, too much sugar - and just once in a while - great day, nice protein, no junk lots of plant foods and that works for me.

Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!
