Impressive work Greenhopeful. Lucky ducks.
I have read but retained little, my cold is just all just a bunged up head now!
Sticky. Nothing to add but you are doing a good job. Well done.
LiverpoolAnne, doh, Mr V has just done mission impossible and done a drop off at the chazzer. I am so used to giving everything away it never crossed my mind to sell the mirror. The saving grace is this shop is independent and donates it's profit to registered charities their customers request. I have done this previously with dementia research in memory of FIL and the Mariposa trust who helped my son and DIL so much. They also take their regular customers out on a day trip each year.
I am pleased with what I got done yesterday. Everything from the move has now been unpacked. I have put a few ornaments out around the house. I really don't have that many these days. I am missing a set of elephants. I have a vague memory of finding them in a strange place recently. What remains now is to go through the house to rearrange stuff to the most sensible homes.
We are just about to go to Bury market. Picking up a thrift new to us mop and a balance bike for DGS first. Mr V is taking a jumper back to Sains. I don't know why he bought it. In the 20 years i have known him I have never seen him wear a jumper!

Saturday is another bright sunny day although it did rain in the early hours. The forecast high is 10°(feeling 2° colder due to SSE wind) & a low of 6°C. DH has fed the warms & also zizzed up another batch of scraps for them. A couple of new bird feeders have just been delivered - DH oerdered them as they are supposed to be squirrel proof & the design is supposed to stop the little birds wasting food by dropping it all over the floor for the pigeons 🤞 I am about to start cheerleading posts dated the 15th
Lovely cheerleading Liverpool_Anne 😊 Excellent work decluttering so much dust & dirt 👏 a very early spring clean 😉 This “I have no idea why we have instructions for a gazebo as to the best of my knowledge we do not have one and never have had one though it is always possible OH has put one in the loft without my knowledge.” had me in stitches 🤣 Then I went off into my own little world wondering what else your OH might have put in the loft…….. a suitcase of money would be handy 🙊
weenancy, This “When I went with my parents and a friend to Switzerland, we spent one night in France (rather than in Geneva). But we hadn't planned to stay at all so had taken no Euros with us. My friend and I went to one of the stores to look around and watched as people abandoned their trollies. So the two of us went around and rounded and returned the trolleys until we had a nice supply of Euros and went shopping. Totally free day of shopping.” how absolutely brilliant 🤩
Florenceem, sorry to hear that you are waking so early 😞 Fingers crossed that the SA uniform fits well 🤞
Excellent work in the kitchen oceanspirit 👏 & well done on getting the pile on top of the CoD put away 👏 Good luck with the rest of the tidying in readiness for the cleaner 🍀
vulpix, hope the scan goes well 🙏 This “The scan clinic is in a shopping centre. Very convenient and no parking charges. Inspired thinking there by someone at the NHS.” is such a great idea 🤩 so was probably suggested by a nurse 😉
_Dolly_Rocker_ excellent work replacing items from stashes 👏 Great news that you are ‘decluttering’ your first mortgage overpayment 🥳
Good decluttering ladybird1106 especially as you earned a little cash 👏 Remember every item out is a step further on your journey to a clutter free home ☺️
London_1, I googled & apparently the answer is yes 🙂 Good luck with your accounting 🍀 Fingers crossed that the final figures aren’t too much higher than 2024 if you discount the new laptop & mobile phone🤞 As to This “Surprising what you can do without and decluttering or finding a new home for something is a great hobby of mine at the moment” what a great hobby to have especially as it is free ☺️
florianatwobob, ‘mizzle’ is a lovely word 😊 I had thought it was a mixture of mist & drizzle but apparently not 🤔 A spot of googling & it could be from a Low German word “miseln” or a Dutch word “miezelen” 🧐
Great work getting so many tasks sorted GrannyKate 👏Good luck with the tidying 🍀
_Dolly_Rocker_ 🥳🥳🥳
suzeesu2000, a pity about the “inaccessible cupboard” ☹️ Perhaps at some point it can be replaced with a shelving unit or maybe even converted into a shelving unit 🤔 Very MSE decision not buying a soup maker 👏☺️ DH had a brief foray into the idea of a soup maker but like you decided to continue with the sauce pan & stick blender method although he prefers chunky soup so the stick blender is rarely used 😉
Florenceem more gentle cwtches 🤗 coming your way.
This post is getting rather long so will have a little rest & come back later 🙂 I hope everyone is having a good day and that the weather is being kind 😊 See you later 👋

I have used up two boxes of porridge sachets, which had been lurking in a box on top of the fridge, for years (still edible). I have now got the space to put away the nuts and stuff which are used for baking, so there is a bit of a gap on the worktop now.
Little things but they add up
20 -
@Yorkie1 little things do add up, this is my plan for a change just keep doing little bits and don’t get disheartened if I miss a day or two usually I go hell for leather then give up.
Reading everyone’s progress helps me keep motivated, too.
i did quite well today, i decluttered another shelf on my big bookcase, including a big box of random cables, sold an old phone on vinted which partly makes up for the 3 items bought 😆 and three also away. Sorted out a Lego set to sell but there are some bits missing so it’ll have to wait a bit until they turn up, surely they will as I continue the declutter. I realise I have about 10 notebooks so absolutely must not buy any more I am a sucker for stationery!Had a nap and now trying to find the energy to cook tea22 -
@StickyTheStickInsect Could you put your mum's things on eBay and then select that the money goes to your chosen charity? As a private seller you don't get charged fees.
@Liverpool_Anne Unblocking drains is so grim, but satisfying when the water swirls away quickly!
Decluttering status, *ahem*:
18-20 - Book sold on eBay, used a spare box and poly mailer too.
21-22 - Last nights dinner consisted of leftover Christmas pie (freezer), swede (freezer in box marked Feb '25
), some of the 5p potatoes and a rather large carrot. All very edible and tasty.
I can't seem to get motivated to do stuff. I keep hoping to take photos to put on eBay but the daylight doesn't stay around long enough for me.

I had a better sleep - my back is still tender today - hot patch attached to my clothes.
I took some donations to the charity shop - on the way called at my hairdresser - she had heard about Mr F. She always called him the Pay Fairy as he would go in and pay before my appointments. I booked an appointment for on the day.
I went to the building society where Mr F banked. That took a long while. Lovely woman helping me asked about house insurance - that needs to be renewed next month. I got a quote and think it was less - need to study my current policy.
I went to the bank where Mr F used to be - only a credit card held from there now. They don't do bereavement at the branch so I was given a phone number. I phoned when I got home - what a palaver - nothing owing on the card - just a small amount of credit.
I thought it was milder when I went out - got home and thick mist appeared with temperature drop.
Been sorting more paperwork from the files in Mr F's office.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

In dehumidifier news:
Washing is drying, which is good. I have just had it on for a few hours and can feel the washing is getting drier. I think using this first before then using the heated airer would work best as it won't have that middle period when your washing almost steams with the heat.
Think it is definitely a good purchase.September 2017 Debt = £25330

Tiny steps being made here and I "accidentally" just picked up 8 dessert bowls free from Buy Nothing as DH has a habit of breaking ours. We use them all the time for the kids breakfasts, snacks, desserts etc as the cereal bowls we have are just too big. They will all get used though. I've also picked up 4 free puzzles this month, so something for me to do in the evenings.Still trying to use up consumables, but it takes a long time to do that and I'm still drowning in things like packaging. Yes, I could recycle those, but it's my own personal little challenge that I think as much should come in as leave, so I should in theory be able to reuse it all..I'm also still cycling through clothes, but of course I tend to wear the same things all the time. I have worn all but 1 of my winter jumpers pretty quickly. I've only worn 1/4 of my winter wardrobe so far.1 - DS clothes grown out of (Buy Nothing)

Bits and bobs out to the CS today including some bubble wrap. Saw the Helios installation in St Albans too

Then on the way back 2 bunches of flowers for £5. Then as they were clearing away they were throwing various bunches in one of those big industrial bin so DSis, I and various other people indulged in some bin diving. Currently living in a florists as a result!
