Tell him the tidy-up fairies have retired due to being overworked....Brie said:
edited to add intended declutter.....our recycling collection is still out of sync so I'm giving the OH until Sunday afternoon to tidy the dining room. He tends to dump boxes in the corner of the room when he's received something he's ordered on line. Add to that there's a lot of post holiday bits that have just been left and need to be chucked or stored properly. I've been too helpful to him in the past and I think he now believes the fairies come and tidy and clean and put out the bins. Sigh!2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

The bathroom changes all went well and I'm very happy. The decorating will be done later in the month. I had already bought new towels and today bought new some storage bits & a new mirror, which will be put together for after the decorating is complete.

Thinking of you @Florenceem
Work again today, so not much decluttering achieved. However, I have binned a pair of bedsocks that I have been hanging onto for a while as they were my Mum's. She died many years ago, which indicates the condition they were in
Finally binned as the heels had been totally replaced by holes. Also binned a lip balm that made my lips drier rather than being moisturising. Hoping to get OH to sort out his clothes over the weekend, but not holding my breath!16 -
@tibawo "Eat the frog" is a popular productivity strategy meaning you should tackle your most important, difficult, or dreaded task (the "frog") first thing in the morning to build momentum, reduce procrastination, and make the rest of your day feel easier. Popularized by Brian Tracy, the concept comes from a Mark Twain quote suggesting it's best to do the unpleasant, vital task immediately before anything else.
How it works:- Identify your frog: Determine the single biggest, most important, or most daunting task on your list for the day.
- Eat it first: Do that task before checking emails or doing anything else, ideally when you have the most energy.
- Build momentum: Once the "frog" is gone, the rest of the day feels less stressful, and you've already accomplished something significant.

Thanks for the advice re Hive @floss - I thought there would be a simpler way of changing the programme.
I managed to get a good start on the frog of the day for tonight's on line meeting. There is more to do but I can at least present something and update on genuine progress this evening. Last pre-diabetic meeting today - it has been really useful - a good group and presenter said our attendance and contribution had been better than many groups which he has had. Weather wasn't too bad although I gather it will get worse tonight. DD has sufficient snow in Midlands for sledging in the field next to their house.
Looks like Dil may have sold at least one of the desk/tables in my garage.

Another post 🙂
Welcome back ruby_eskimo, lovely to see you again ☺️ I have made a note of the targets for your personal decluttering/renovations & am confident of your success ☺️ You indeed have a major project on your hands helping your parents to declutter in preparation for needed renovation works. I am very impressed at your approach of giving each of your parents a mini task to complete in between your visits 👏 It sounds like your mum is pulling her weight (long may it last) ☺️ but your dad needs a little more persuasion 🤞 Good luck & I will keep everything crossed that your parents will grow to enjoy the process & also appreciate your desire to keep them safe 🥹 Good luck 🍀
Deb4, very handy to live so close to your DS’s school 😉 especially when the weather is bad 🙂 Good luck with your job hunt 🍀
ladybird1106, I will have to remember that tip but for me 🙊 Perhaps you cool try soaking the tablecloth in a weak solution of soda crystals?
vulpix, a belated Happy Birthday to your Mum 🥳 🎂 92 years young ☺️ I am hoping This attitude “ I amaze myself on a daily basis about what I can let go. Things that I thought I had to keep only a few months ago. Decluttering really does get easier, the more you stick at it,the more you want to do.” will transfer to me 🙏
ladybird1106, fingers crossed that vulpix’s tip works 🤞
Good decluttering Pennypincin 👏
Nonnadiluca, thanks for the laundry tip 👏
Another page caught up 🙂 Time to start prepping dinner so will be back later 👋

I can sympathise @Florenceem as I have had LS for about 15 years. Please take care of you. We missed you.Decluttered a bunch of money today as its bill paying day😢 it’s quite painful to say goodbye to so much but, at least, we are pretty much sorted for another month.Sent DNA kit back today. It’s DHs one, did mine in September. I’ve got everything crossed for some good results. It will be so nice if I can add some meat to the bones of his paternal grandmothers side.Forecast storm amounted to some lightish rain all day and a light puff of wind. That was it.I’m not sure about this heated airer. Is there a specific way to load them? Hopefully I’ll work it out.

I decluttered my peg bag and pegs today as I just put clothes outside on the airer. I must have made this peg bag over 15 years ago - not a good photo.

I have one of those which is square footprint, with drying rails on three levels, which can fold down if not needed. (Like this one).suzeesu2000 said:I’m not sure about this heated airer. Is there a specific way to load them? Hopefully I’ll work it out.
have a good night all, sweet dreams xx
I tend to find that clothes dry best if I hang them over two rails each, rather than just one. Yes it reduces the number of items on the dryer at once, but it helps with air circulation. If you have more clothes to dry, then you could use one rail per item and it just takes longer to dry. If I have trousers, I tend to put them on the top tier, with the legs hanging down the outside. Underwear goes on the outer most rails, where it's not possible to put full width clothes.
I often don't use the heated element, as I don't have an urgent need to have the clothes dry fast. But it does help if need be or if it's really quite cold. Window open on the vent to maintain some ventilation. I also have a cover for it, but haven't worked out whether it keeps the heat in (thus making dryer quicker), and/or keeps the humidity from drying clothes in (thus making drying longer)!16
