Thursday continued: the rain has stopped……at least for a little while 🙂 Dinner is on - shop bought pies with mashed potatoes & baked beans - comfort food at its finest 😉 I will start cheerleading the posts dated the 5th whilst everything is cooking.
weenancy, very wise advice about checking the contents of boxes before you send them off to whatever destination 👏😊 Although I imagine that more recently there have been fewer dollar bill finds 😉
Lovely cheerleading Liverpool_Anne ☺️very impressed that you not only tackled the kitchen which was on your rota but also started on the porch/hallway to get a start on Monday’s task 👏🥳 Some great decluttering & very pleased to hear that OH is still assisting 👏 Fingers crossed that OH’s car passes its MOT with flying colours 🤞
BlueJ94, shame about the poor sleep on Sunday night ☹️ Good luck with the decluttering 🍀 but please take a timed nap if you start to feel really tired 🙏
ShelivesintheShire, well done on decluttering the Christmas decorations that you no longer love 👏 Hopefully if you adopt a little & often approach to decluttering with your DH, he might start to appreciate that decluttering is a good thing as he will be able to locate items more quickly 🤞You never know, he might be inspired to declutter the contents of his shed 🙏
BlueJ94, the snow looks so beautiful 😍 & I can almost feel how quiet it is 😉
surprisinglynice, sounds like a good use of your time 👏 I would probably have just read a book or watched junk TV 🙁 Excellent decluttering/tidying by both you & your OH 👏 I do love the lateral thinking about how to recycle your cardboard boxes 👏😊
We have had dinner & I have wudupa. I have a confession to make - I have been playing DSis’s word game instead of catching up with the cheerleading 😞 I will try not to feel too guilty as I enjoyed myself 😉
42 - 43 Kitchen recycling & detritus disposed of
GrannyKate, very quick thinking to make shepherds pies rather than venture out in the cold to buy plastic meal boxes 😊 I know it is not a good look but I am quite jealous of your ‘almost’ utility room 😉 Hopefully once you have some shelves up you can start moving various bulky supplies & creating space in the kitchen 🙂 This “I have adopted a policy (that sounds a bit formal!) to recheck the drawer or cupboard as I put things away so yesterday I put some Christmas tablecloths away in a nice lidded box that I keep in my wardrobe for table linen. It was not full but I identified several items for CS Bag which I will not use again as I have a smaller table and less places to use runners” is a great idea 🙂Sox looks very comfortable 🙂 Some good decluttering & good luck sorting out bedroom 3 & selling the Kallax unit 🍀
Welcome aboard the EDT pinkprincesz56 👋 I am looking forward to following your decluttering journey 😊
vulpix, I like the division between knitting & decluttering/tidying 😊 You certainly get a lot done during the ad breaks 👏 I missed out on what sounds like a rather tasty meal 😋 Please drive carefully on your trip to & from the bank 🙏
Lovely post oceanspirit 😊 Shame about the plate but well done on decluttering the last few bits to your OH 👏 As you say a satisfying start to the new year 👏
Welcome aboard the EDT mickly 👋 Lovely to meet you 😊 This is your year 🙂 My suggestion would be to just concentrate on decluttering your own stuff 😊Then hopefully when your wife & daughter see how much happier you are with less stuff they might be inclined to join you in decluttering 🤞🙏 Good luck 🍀
ionafan, great idea for repurposing GrannyKate’s Kallax unit 👏
Lovely post daisy_1571 with some great tips for mickly 👏 Most succinct & very encouraging ☺️
Welcome aboard the EDT BobbieD 👋 It sounds like you have made a great start on your decluttering campaign 👏 Keep up the good work & hopefully you can keep motivated just by seeing clearer cupboards & surfaces 😊
Deni_debt-free_dreamer, yippee to WFH when the weather is bad 🥳 Great work decluttering both work & personal emails 👏
Wednesday2000, shame that the CS didn’t want the chairs but nice to earn a little money by passing them onto a furniture store 😊 At least they will no longer be cluttering up your home 😉 Well done on doing so many steps over the weekend 👏
Seems a good place to stop, at the end of a page 🙂 Sleep tight 😴

Morning all. I have set the urgent frog out on breakfast bar in kitchen for action when I return from school run. My recheck policy (as I put things away) extended to sorting through another lidded box where I keep banking books, passport etc and this yielded some bits for shredding. I have about 4 of those card readers for bank which I almost never use now so I will try and remember to drop 2 off at the bank next time I am in town. I went to bed earlier last night (10) and slept until 6.30. I also sat and updated heating settings yesterday - a bit slow as I had to do Monday to Sunday one day at a time on the Hive. It is coming on earlier in the morning and afternoon.
It has been raining here but not really windy and nothing like as cold. I think the Humber bank is just outside the yellow warning area. Right I need to get dressed and collect children from DS2s for school. (5 minutes in car)
Sox is stomping round miaowing and going in and out of doors.

Sending you much love and prayers @Florenceem and echo everyone else with being gentle with yourself and hoping that the MRI results are positive in a good way.
@purplevamp we recycled our tubs with green king last year, or at least I hope we did, the pub we dropped them off at really had no idea what we were talking about so they probably just chucked them. Have since found a better GK pub locally so will hope that they know about the scheme when we pop in over the weekend.
Haven't removed anything else from the house yet this week but have assembled a pile of things that need to go to the dump, the pub, or other recycling points around the area.Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 201719 -
I have some little glass tea light holders and just pop them on top of a spare coaster. I am a sucker for a new tea light holder - I have to restrain myselfMrs_Salad_Dodger said:QueenJess, not sure I would call that a lazy weekend 😉 Some great decluttering 👏 Just a quick question about tea lights - what type of container do you use & what type of place mat do you put underneath? Currently the only time I use tea lights is in pumpkins at Halloween 😅 so no issues with burn makes on surfaces.

@Florenceem - Take care of yourself. Well done on marking the first 7 from your list. I totally get that you feel better when you're busy. Can't wait to see the bed cover when it's finished. We will be able to upload our pictures soon I am sure of it!@TC77 - That is annoying! I mean they have to refund you if they're at fault.@ionafan - Aw I love a wee trip down memory lane looking at old photos. This is going to be one of my 2026 goals. Clear out a lot of pictures. I've got 3 lovely albums which I am going to take the current photos out of and I am going to do an album each for Bailey and Luna then the other one I'll just fill up with family and friends.@QueenJess - I'm also a sucker for a nice tea light holder. I tried to give most of them away and I use my tealights in the wax melters now. I've got a few of the white skull ones from Asda dotted through the house.Debt Free - 4th June 202522

Oh it's another cold one today. -3 when I took B&L for their first walk of the day. Did manage to stay upright this morning so yay!
Recycling bin went out this morning, I usually leave a bundle on the breakfast bar and do the recycling when I get back from the dog walk because they come around 10am but they were early this morning. It's a small box and the dogs breakfast tins so not too much, just means I'm adding to an empty bin rather than a full one!
Came home and switched on YouTube, watched some True Crime while I had a coffee and some toast. My sibling called and we sorted out a nice bouquet of flowers and chocolate to be delivered to mum tomorrow for her birthday. We had planned to go for a nice dinner tomorrow but they've all come down with this flu. We'll sort something when they're all feeling better.
I'm just getting ready to leave the house to pick up 3 dogs who need walked. After them B&L be out again so I won't be home until about 2ish.
Shall catch up soon.Debt Free - 4th June 202519 -
Condolences to floranceem, sorry to hear about Mr f and hope MRI is ok
I will be decluttering my brain tumor on 5th Feb. I also have pre op appointment on 26th jan. Waiting for an MRI before then to add to ct ibe already had.
I haven't had a hospital stay since my first son was born 20 years ago so I'm freaking out about what to pack and worried how much hair they will shave. Luckily I have a friend who is a hairdresser who will come see what she can do with it after.
I'm more worried about how my husband will cope taking care of me and our young son with special needs. He is taking a couple months of work unpaid though.. my mum will be coming to help after she gets back of her holiday though.
My eyes are getting worse. I sent all my library books back and joined kindle unlimited vos I can alter font size on my Kindle and iPad then.24 -

Thanks for the replies about the loft. It really has helped as i now have a £ target to aim for. Our aim, as a family, is to redo the house as we declutter. I never invite people round anymore as it’s such a state and we want control back.
Can someone please remind me what a frog is?
Am still working through my targets for the week. Sorted the spices/packets last night. Only need to get some chilli flakes. We had run out rather than not in date!
I’ve also bought some smaller storage tubs for cupboard. I found i can put these 2 a breast where normally i’d have one bigger one. This means i can free up space. My kitchen is only tiny so this is great.
I’m struggling with drinking glasses. I have decided to put the spares in a tub on top of unit for now. They do get used but not on a regular basis. If i leave them in the cupboard they often end up upstairs and don’t come back down as there’s always others in the cupboard so am hoping moving the excess will help rectify this.
Bin day today. I know I’ve shifted ‘stuff’ as bin is overflowing and have a spare bag too. We are ‘allowed’ to leave an extra bag as long as neatly next to bin.Don’t put it down - put it away!

Thanks @weenancyinAmerica. I'll go and have a read over the weekend 😊weenancyinAmerica said:@CRANKY40 - Hi, you might want to go over to the Fashion on the Ration thread if you haven't already. They really know how to make socks including turning the heels over there.17
