I was exactly the same @Florenceem, never heard of it, but I know all about it now😩
Mine Is a long one @Yorkie1, it’s this one: https://www.robertdyas.co.uk/status-230w-portable-heated-clothes-airer-with-wings-silver?cq_src=google_ads&cq_cmp=23013673429&cq_term=&cq_plac=&cq_net=x&cq_plt=gp&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=23013676267&gbraid=0AAAAACf0mw0TkiNah4VeN9ZSKOLWmgLJv&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI152G4KH_kQMVHJtQBh0_HR_IEAQYAyABEgKySfD_BwE
I bought the cover too and am of the same mind, does it hasten the drying or hold in the humidity. I suppose the only way to learn is to keep using it. It does get Blimming warm though. My biggest issue is DH is an ex front row rugby player and has a huge chest and shoulders so his tops are big and take a lot of room on any airer, and I’m not exactly dainty either!Saving 1 animal wont change the world - but it will change the world for that 1 animal

I bought a dehumidifier and it is BRILLIANT for drying the washing. I usually hang a washing over 2 clothes horses and put a throw over the top with the dehumidifier in the middle and it dries in no time.Debt Free - 4th June 202518

Seen a post on FB earlier for some more free teddies so went and picked them up. She only posted a picture of a few but when I went to collect she had 3 black bags full!
That will do B&L for a while and save me some money! I'll smash my goal not to spend on dog toys in 2026 and potentially 2027.
Dinner was mostly out the freezer, Had some steak in a black pepper and garlic butter, a cook at home baguette with some broccoli, cauliflower and babycorn. Was delicious if I do say so myself.
Luna was that tired and full up after he walk and dinner that she wasn't sitting next to me drooling the whole time.
Sitting cosy on the couch now and I'm just gonna relax for the rest of the night.
Tomorrow I only have B&L to walk and will spend the rest of the day pottering about the house.Debt Free - 4th June 202516 -
I have decluttered 2 fleeces, 2 jumpers, 4 pairs of shoes, a jacket, a colouring book and 2 ice cream tubs + lids today + the peg bag & pegs.
My friend J runs a SA charity shop now so I will be sorting out stuff to go there. J is setting up a craft section - I have lots she can have. This is the year I must sort out my craft room and the ROD - craft storage room.
Of course I now have a cluttered office to sort. Eventually the room will go back to a bedroom.
I have someone who will help me sort out the computers - remove any info.
There are 2 heavy wooden desks, a metal filing cabinet and a metal cupboard to be got down the stairs - going to need strong men. Also a very large and heavy photocopier.
My builder friend came and said he could see where the leak was. The push down sink plug doesn't work properly - hasn't for a while so he will fit a new one while he fixes the leak. I have put a towel down on the floor under the wash basin for tonight.
My middle son phoned - he had a burst pipe in an outhouse where they keep their freezers.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

If I have trousers on the heated airer I fold them back under the shelf so they are against the bottom of the head rails and tuck the ankles back up to the top bit.Yorkie1 said:

I tend to find that clothes dry best if I hang them over two rails each, rather than just one. Yes it reduces the number of items on the dryer at once, but it helps with air circulation. If you have more clothes to dry, then you could use one rail per item and it just takes longer to dry. If I have trousers, I tend to put them on the top tier, with the legs hanging down the outside. Underwear goes on the outer most rails, where it's not possible to put full width clothes.
I often don't use the heated element, as I don't have an urgent need to have the clothes dry fast. But it does help if need be or if it's really quite cold. Window open on the vent to maintain some ventilation. I also have a cover for it, but haven't worked out whether it keeps the heat in (thus making dryer quicker), and/or keeps the humidity from drying clothes in (thus making drying longer)!
I also throw something over my heated airer - if there are no duvet covers/ sheets needing drying then there is a blanket in the room that I throw over to trap the heat in - the items dry quicker but the room is still warmed by the airer.I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £2017 -

lovely to be back @Mrs_Salad_Dodger - even 9 * 26 minutes has made a difference. My bedroom is tidy, 2 kitchen drawers are sorted, the tablecloths are in a much more sensible place as are the glasses and vases, the christmas tree is away, and when DD2 and her fiance stopped overnight their room was clean, the bed remade and no clutter. Still lots to do, but i do have another 354 days to go...Welcome back DundeeDoll, lovely to see you 😊 What a great start to your 2026 decluttering campaign 👏 especially finding your long lost ceilidh shoes - what a bonus 🥳

@Crazycatlady2 , I would recommend a 3 metre charging cable and plug if you are taking your phone or tablet. The sockets on the wall are actually quite a long way from where you are in bed. I got my Mum a red one for her hospital stays, so it was easier to see against the white sheets.
@Floss , I didn’t know you could copy the day on the Hive, this is really helpful information, thank you very much.

Yesterday I did not do a lot but it was very productive because of the incomplete Wednesday work.
One sack of cans and bottles (currently outside the back door because DS3 hasn't brought the bin back yet), 2 bin bags of rubbish (one had reached the more falling out than I was putting in, so moved it to the kitchen added 2 small piles of rubbish, 2 food delivery bags (foil inside so can't go in the bin) and the gloop at the bottom of a wash tablets box - that's outside to fill with rainwater and dilute any remaining gloop.
2 snags done including the found hob instructions so worked out how to turn off the pesky child lock (I also removed all the multi language instructions so only 10 pages instead of over 200). Box file is now where it should be and 6 boxes of tissues have taken up space on the shelf.
One wash load done + drain and spin + dried in the WM. Including this as it represents a major change in thinking which will save time (very scarce resource for me). Someone on another thread suggested that next time I buy a washer / dryer. The one I have (it was bought for DS3 and Beloved and their choice but I may keep it as I don't want my new kitchen disturbed) has an integral dryer but in my head it's for 'emergencies only'. My definition of an emergency is >30 years old - I had to wash and dry all the clothes and bedding in the house over the Christmas holidays. I had 5 washing lines the length of the yard (18' - 19') and brought in the most urgently required items. I did have a tumble dryer but only used it briefly following an operation.
So I need to accept that I'm more than twice as old as I was then. I will continue to line dry as much as possible (Mrs Builder can peg it all out/ bring it in in a few minutes) but if that isn't possible I will use the dryer (on low heat) and hang clothes on hangers to finish off. No more piles of laundry waiting for a good day, no more washing waiting to go out, no staying in because I'm down to only having a couple of nighties to wear.
One paper sack, 2 overdue letters written, 2 points for food unpacked, put away and listed. Another 12 items giving me a new total of 28/2026.19 -
Threw out the front doormat and used spare one ( not sure why I bought it but used by dd1 when she had the cats to stay as scratchy so they claw it not the carpet) and if . Lots of dust as charged cordless vac 4 times in last 24 hours and mopped more floors before work.
Have bought more sale items so will look out items to go in their place.17
