Elder Son is moving out. House is becoming decluttered from his stuff as he takes boxes to the new house... dust is being scattered about as furniture comes down the stairs.

"Mum, can you help me fold shirts?..." We have just folded 18 smart shirts, that were still here. He has already moved other shirts to new house. New wardrobe has less hanging space than he had here, so he plans to put the shirts on the shelf. We discussed baskets or boxes to keep them in a way (cough, Marie K0nd0, cough) that he can see them all easily, and be less tempted to buy new shirts that are the same as he already has. Please note, these are not work wear, he just likes shirts. Which is fine. My washing machine is going to wonder why it is being used so much less!

He'd got new coat hangers from 1kea, which will not now be used, but is making up a box of things to return. (Or I get lots of new coat hangers when he realises the return date is passed, and my coat hangers get recycled at the supermarket where they all came from anyway.)

I have 3 loads of washing on the line: towels, Elder Son's sheets, the bedspread that goes on the big sofa. Tomorrow's washing will be the big sofa cushion covers, and all the covers from the small sofa, as the dog is also moving out with his boy. I'll put the bedspread back on the big sofa, and a duvet cover on the small sofa so they're usable by humans while the covers are washing and drying. (Humans being less likely to dig the covers round for maximum comfort!)

Joyful to announce that the scaffolding on neighbour's property that has prevented me opening my windows since April has just been decluttered.

No more putting the light on during the daytime when I'm in the bathroom or kitchen.

It's like awakening from a five month eclipse 😀

@Mrs_Salad_Dodger - I do that all the time, end up leaving without the stuff I actually went for. Someone knocked at the door today and I just ignored it. 2090 for the next one!

@Foofoopuppy - Congratulations on the new property! I've been in my flat for 5 years and I still have a long list of things to do. It's saving the money to pay for it I struggle with. 20% sellers fee is very fair.

@suzeesu2000 - Well done you and DH, that's a lot you got sorted.

@vulpix - Oh that sounds good, I do need some garden bits so might pop down there's one not too far from me.

@Florenceem - I just had a look back through the thread and can see it was your grandson J who passed away, I am so so sorry for your loss. I am glad that you've got a new church now who are there to support you along with your bestie. My deepest condolences to you and your family.

Had a lovely day with my nephew yesterday and was home earlier than I thought so I pulled all the throws and cushion covers off the couch and washed them all. Most things out of the living room that don't belong there and hoovered the floors.

Kitchen counters are almost all clear, the place is looking great.

Dining room, I can almost see the dining table. It's been covered in clean washing.

Been trying to potter in between meetings rather than watching telly. Feel like when the place is looking all lovely I will be able to relax better.

Took the decluttered mediation to the pharmacy to be disposed of. I often forget this so glad I did it today when I had just completed the job.

I'm finding it too hot to think, let alone do anything at the moment but I think the weather is returning to something more normal (whatever that is these days), tomorrow. 🤞

@Florenceem Sending more love your and your family's way. Such a shock to you all and a difficult time for you as well when you've been used to sharing everything. 💕

On Tuesday I decided to occupy myself by seeing if my plans to renovate the garage would work. The back wall had very obviously had a car parked up against it with the engine running on choke and being left on to warm up the car! It's a small by today's standard garage as cars back in the 60's were smaller. I could get my car in there but opening a door would be a problem.

There was no way washing was going to help as the soot/gunk was well into the brickwork so I used a dilute PVA solution to seal and then went over with a mist coat of white paint - some of each being used up. 😁😁
I'm really happy with the white wall in there and so far there doesn't seem to be any bleeding through of the soot. I won't be putting the main coat of paint on until I've pressure washed the garage floor and that won't happen before next week because next week is when the stack of old wood should be being decluttered to the tip.

I will be so glad to see the back of that stack of wood. I need to go to my son's tip with it and because of his work commitments over the last few months there hasn't been a day when weather and availability lined up but with luck, Monday is that day. 🤞🤞
I also decluttered some money on garage floor paint in readiness for getting on with the garage.

Jewel's blood results came back on Tuesday as well; basically a clean bill of health for her age but the thyronorm seems to be working a bit too well. Dose has been reduced and she has to return for another blood test in 3 weeks.

I thought I was decluttering a boiler service on Monday but there was a gas leak at the previous client's house so the service has been rescheduled to next week.

I went down to the local estuary to watch the eclipse and the atmosphere was lovely. I was chatting to a couple there for most of the hour and a half we were there and came away with a recommendation for cafe that was a little way along the river bank, that I didn't realise was there.

Then to round off a lovely day I managed to see a meteor from my garden! That was something I really wasn't expecting as there is so much light pollution around me. In France I would have been sitting outside and marveling at the Milky Way over head and spotting the Andromeda galaxy and trying to see it by eye with lowish horizons all round. Here I could barely make out the brighter stars up overhead but for one brief flash there it was, a meteor trail. I was grinning from ear to ear - little things please me. 🤣

I suppose I ought to do something today apart from the knitting group and shopping so I'd better go and unload the dishwasher ready for the next load!
