Being stuck in and having a skip has been great for the decluttering.

The big item I couldn't get to in the garage, I now got and is in the skip. I decluttered two drawers in the conservatory that had DD's stuff in down to one. She was at the side of me allowing me to as well. I have one full clear drawer.

I went through a few cupboards and combined items, or binned things I knew were out of date or would not be used again. I had a window cleaner spray from 5 years ago, but I use a karcher window cleaner. Just so much has been shifted. The whole house is upside down because of the building work so everything feels a mess, but I know come two weeks, everything will really come together and have a home.

I am not sure where the time has gone, but TBF it has been busy.

We are officially in our new property, and have been for about 6 weeks. Everything is unpacked and most things have a tentative home, but I'm sure this will change as we live here longer.

Mr Puppy hurt his foot whilst moving and got infected, and the antibiotics gave him vertigo, so he's been down for the count for the first four weeks of use moving in. He's better now, back at work, but still some lingering dizziness.

Despite my initial optimism when packing, unpacking in a new place has made me look at things with new eyes, and I have had a number of items leave, mostly smaller things. This isn't helped by our new place being a bit smaller than our last place, so less space for stuff that doesn't have an active use.

Have also got rid of two sets of drawers, there is more wardrobe space here so they weren't needed and I am hoping to naturally cull some clothes as they start wearing out - 3 pairs of socks have died since we moved.

I am also proud of myself for finally getting round to selling the second TV and gaming console. These were intermittently used at our last place, but it didn't really work space wise at our new house. Technically they were Mr Puppy's, but he did agree to them going. He was not happy about me taking a 20% sellers fee, but given that I did all the listing and communicating; and that he would not have bothered anytime soon himself, I thought this was fair.

Sadly dropped my phone which meant I needed a new one, so a chunky expense at an expensive time.

There's also several changes we want to make to the house, but they'll come in time.

I have been reading along, and my sympathies to those struggling at the moment.

phew, it’s been a scorcher today and forecast is same for Thursday.

Made another sale on Vinted, that went this afternoon.

DH went into an extremely hot loft last night and got a few lidded totes down. Made a start on emptying the cupboards. Started in the under the draining board one. Have been very good and have 12 single serving ceramic pie dishes, 4 large pie dishes, 1 casserole & lid, 2 mixing bowls all glass, Stacked on counter ready for photographing and listing tomorrow. I’ve put what I’m keeping: 4 large glass pie dishes with lids, 5 single serving ceramic dishes and 1 glass trifle bowl in a tote already. Asked DH whether he wanted to keep the deep fat fryer OR the big chip pan as we don’t need both; he is happy to let the chip pan go - I hoped that would be his choice! Also put my beautiful blue and white patterned ceramic bowl, lidded butter dish & milk jug together to go. Current kitchen is blue, white and fawn, new kitchen is grey wood floor, pale grey cabinets and black counters and wallboard. The accent colour is yellow and the walls and ceiling will be white. I’ve taken before pics, can’t wait to take the after ones. Man coming tomorrow to check for any asbestos, don’t think he’ll find any as house was built in 2001.

Otherwise been a quiet day. DH made us delicious ham salad sandwiches for dinner which was perfect.

The eclipse should be starting any minute now, don’t think we will see it as the sun goes down behind the houses opposite. If you’re watching it, please don’t ruin your eyes, use appropriate eye protection.

I vividly remember the 1999 eclipse. This evening, I did go to the bottom of the garden where I could see the sun, but as I hadn't been organised enough to get special specs, I resorted in the end to seeing it reflected on white paper through tree leaves.

Evening all. Quiet day at home with DGS4 - he has been making a booklet with his favourite world cup players so I did some printing with him. We also made a box to view the eclipse - good job I got a new box of cornflakes this week. We went down to his dads for tea and saw eclipse with his camera box and also using colander. When I got home my neighbour had an arc welding mask so I looked at last bit of eclipse through that. Children stayed at their dads so quiet evening now. Away Friday to Tuesday so not much happening at house.

Just to say B n Q have those outside rugs on sale £4, £6 and £8. Didn't buy one but I may have partaken in a reduced price Olive tree, they had loads.

The guy who came to collect the 5 big heavy garden pots came on the bus! We live a mile from the bus stop up a big hill. Off he went with his carrier bags back down the hill. We could have dropped them off if we had known, we drive through his town regularly.

Wednesday is a hot sunny day with a high of 31°C, low of 17°C & feeling 2°warmer due to E wind. HH waste wheelie bin emptied & DH put in new bin liner. I did a full wash-load which is drying on whirligig.  DH spent a couple of hours tidying & cleaning in the garage - 2 cardboard boxes recycled & a small bag of detritus binned (1362 - 1364) I sorted out my small filing cabinet - tidier & 0.5” paper & packaging recycled (1365) We missed out on the eclipse as DH was unable to get any glasses 😢 We only have to wait until 2090 for the next full eclipse 😂 Although there is a partial one next year. Dinner was shop bought pies, oven chips & baked beans. Wudupa

Hi all, reasonable couple of days here 😁. Cushion inner binned, bathroom bin, meds collected but only part order so I will call back today, 100 emails permanently deleted, big bag of packaging binned and a tip run with 2 small electricals, some wood, some metal bits and 50 batteries I will count as 5 😂, 2 vases washed out and rehomed.

I took myself off to the park next to the river to watch the eclipse. I didn't have any glasses but made a pinhole piece of paper. There were loads of people there and whole families from small babies to great grand parents. Lots of picnics etc. A lady near me with her daughter lent me some glasses for a few quick looks and just at the crucial time a cloud came over but it was still visible through the cloud so I snapped a few pics with my phone. The lady also had a collander with her so we tried that which was fun 😁. Quite a few people had made viewers from cereal boxes and I had a go with one of those as well 😁. I am a bit of a nerd so I enjoyed it 😂.

I was very hot by the time I got home though at about 8.30 after hours in the sun so had a cool shower and flopped in the couch in front of the fan 😂. Despite the hot walk home I was glad I hadn't taken the car as the traffic was gridlocked trying to get away.

I am going to the bag wash today as it will be hot again so it will all dry on the line so time to get weaving.

@Vulpix I can't whizz around much now either 😂, just have to plod on. I remember when I could do the whole house in a morning, lucky to get a room done now 😂.

Medicine cupboard sorted and a lot out of date. I have put them in a bag to dispose of at the pharmacy today. That is anotyer annual job ticked off.

I arrived home at 11.30 last night - been away for 10 days.

I was tearful in the back of the car travelling home. Losing a lovely grandson and the thought that it was the longest time being away from home since I lost Mr F - going to an empty house.

The police still have J's phone - I suppose for the coroner and inquest.

I need to shop for fresh foods.

I haven't done any unpacking yet. I will do it after shopping and put a wash on.

I couldn't have a cup of tea when I got home as of course - no milk. My nearby store closes at 11. I have been round and got some milk.

Heard from my youngest daughter R who is still in Nottingham that my son was very wobbly after I left. He is having a Doctor's telephone consultation this morning.
