Annoying junk mail has made it into the car so that it can be popped into a mailbox at some point. I hate that my name is on a mailing list and so much paper gets wasted sending me ads for things I have absolutely no interest in buying.

@GrannyKate thanks for info re Scottish marriages. That could be why I cannot for the life of me find a church/parish record for 2 of my ancestors, circa 1766. Can find their children beautifully but not their marriage. I noted that it was quite legal for a boy to marry at 14 and a girl at 12, shocking!

Had absolutely not a single wink of sleep last night. In between jobs today, I have closed my eyes in the armchair.

Whites out on line, My neighbours must think I am running a cafe from the number of tea towels on my line! Darks wash done for tomorrow.
Emptied shelves in downstairs loo - we seldomly use it as it’s right off the kitchen - decluttered and things put back tidy. I have to make some covers so that I can store the food processor, mini chopper thing and stick blender in there. As I said we seldomly use it as a loo.
2 Vinted parcels gone today too. Plus gave friend a bottle of cleaning stuff out of my stash.

Very sorry to see that a part of the New Forest is on fire. A van caught fire on the main A31 and the fire caught the dry gorse at the side of the road and spread, oh the poor animals😥😥, you could smell the smoke over here on the island last night. Not good.

Ooh, that's so easy! I read this and went straight to the kitchen to deal with the peppers sitting neglected in the fridge. Now all nicely chopped and in a bag in the freezer. Seeds and stalks in the compost bin, knife and chopping board washed up and on the draining board, bag they'd come in tucked in the bag recycling for next supermarket visit.

Still pottering around. Money decluttered for Jewel's blood test but the consultation fees for both the cats who were having their 6-month check up, was covered by my monthly payments to the vets. It also covers trimming the cat's claws as well as the flea and worm treatments. Jewel's prescription and meds will be sorted once we have her blood test results.

One tube of almost gone off silicone sealant uu starting to waterproof around the boarding in the broken garage window and probably joining that tube in the bin will be the plastic sealant gun which I think is unrepairable.

Over the weekend, having watched GW, I did some major pruning of my cherry and peach trees and while I was in the back garden I decluttered a lot of weeds. Net result is that I had 4 green waste bags ready for collection next Friday.

My knee is still too sore to kneel on, so getting down for up close and personal weeding is on hold still.

Oh, I also decluttered a can of black spray paint sprucing up my outdoor plant stand that was showing signs of rust. I will be buying another can though as I have a dog cage that I used to transport the cats from France that needs sprucing up and then I'll offer it to the local animal centre. I'll also be bringing in a couple more tins, (I bought 1 today), of garage floor paint.

I'm not looking forward to the upcoming heatwave, I find myself really struggling with the heat these days.

@suzeesu2000 - yes legal age for marriage was not raised to 16 until 1929 (now 18) but it was exceptionally rare for 'children' to marry except in dynastic marriages. If you want to pm me the names and places for the marriage you are looking for I will see if I can help.

Homeless charity came to collect the ikea table and chairs, with cushions. They are housing a young family so it will be good for them. We only use it once a year for our summer party.

2. Sort out sleep patterns - initial targets: bed by 03:00, up by 10:30
3. Don’t put it down, put it away + deal with mini tasks as soon as they are noticed e.g. refill olive pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc.
4. Commence ‘Operation Financial Frog Tickling’ using the acronym - I.R.I.S. (Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off) - One per quarter
5. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
6. Plan & Execute ONE Major Project - 2026 New Bathroom
7. Target 2026 items out

Monday is another warm sunny day with a high of 26°C, low of 18°C & a delightful cooling N wind. DH had a quick bath & weighed himself for the first time in 2 months - he is the exact same weight as he was on 5th August 2025. With all the exciting plans for kitchens, I was inspired to tackle the narrow three shelved kitchen cupboard nearest the hob - condiments, stockpots & cubes, oils & vinegars. I cleaned inside & out, topped up various containers & binned a couple of items that I will never use despite having kept them for Justin 😅 Washed & recycled a plastic bottle & a small glass jar (1347 - 1348) A lot neater & even managed to transfer an item from one of the other cupboards 😊 Dinner was linguine in a creamy bacon & pea sauce. Wudupa

I have fallen behind with the cheerleading again 😞

Sorted through a couple more drawers in the garage and added some extras in the skip.

I also found more things that school would benefit from. They won't go until September now, but at least I know it will clear. I have spotted two curtain poles up on the rafters that I can't reach to get down. I will ask one of the guys today to help me get them down and they will go in the skip.
