dND, what a very busy day you had 🤩 👏 I have missed out on the leek & potato soup 😞 that’s what comes from falling behind ☹️& I imagine there is no root veg soup left either ☹️ Keep up the good work on your accounts 😊 I have no doubt you will soon be caught up if you managed 2 months worth on such a busy day 👏 Thank you for the encouragement & ideas for our newbies which are also useful for the more seasoned members of our Declutterati family 😊
jivjules1, a great suggestion from Floss 😊
Good luck tiddles 🍀 I have noted your target which I am sure you & your DH will reach 😊
canvascamper, a very successful day of decluttering 👏 Especially impressed that you have already dropped off a bag of stuff at the CS & that your digital decluttering is already 1068 🥳 As you have passed the halfway mark on your target for digital decluttering I am awarding you a Gold Star ⭐️
Brambling, I hope your elderly friend is OK & that the hospital staff will keep a closer eye on her 🤞
Good luck with your brick-maker Soontobeoap 🍀
Good work with the cleaning & decluttering charlies_tribe 👏 Hopefully as DH gets back into the swing of doing nights, he will be able to retrieve a bag from the loft before he goes to work 🤞
🤩StickyTheStickInsect, just 🤩 No wonder both you & DH are absolutely exhausted 😩 Very impressive that with your cousin’s help the 3 of you managed to decorate the bedroom in a single day 👏 & then you & DH spent the next few days building all the flat pack furniture 🥳 + you disposed of ALL the old furniture & packaging 👏 Your DD & DS2 must be absolutely delighted 😁 In recognition of all the hard work I am making some awards: DH Gold Star ⭐️, you Gold Star ⭐️ & your cousin is getting a medal 🏅 Congratulations to all 3 of you 👏
I almost cannot believe it but I am now starting the cheerleading for posts dated the 3rd 🙂
weenancy, I hope roommate G got through his surgery OK & doesn’t need an extended hospital stay 🙏 You have been busy today & well done on getting your roommates to assist with the decluttering by taking cans & bottles to the recycling centre 👏 as I doubt they actually volunteered. Keeping everything crossed that the rain stops & the weatherman is wrong 🤞
Welcome aboard the EDT VickyV 👋 nice to meet you 😊 You have a very busy year planned & I am looking forward to following your progress 😊 Good luck in all your endeavours 🍀
TC77, I think we have overtaken the bullet train at least twice so far 😅

Excellent decluttering Willowtree222 👏
London_1, hopefully you don’t have too many Christmas bits to munch through 🤞 Although I have to say that pâté on toast for breakfast sounds rather tasty 😋 Well done on recycling all the cardboard boxes & decluttering a bag of books 👏 I again missed my chance of some leek & potato soup 😞 Please take care when you go to the Post Office 🙏

Condolences to Florenceem x19

So sorry to hear about Mr F, hoping that Florenceem is getting the support she needs after a stressful year or two.
Thanks for the recommendation @Liverpool_Anne - have watched a couple of the videos and it's exactly the situation my parents are in. Definitely can see myself falling down a rabbit hole with her channel but at least it will be useful videos I'm consuming!
First couple of things out already:
1. Christmas candle used up
2. Random christmas decoration donated
Have a January goal to use up all the herbal tea that's been in my massive tea caddy for years. Managed to get it down to under 30 teabags (they're all individually wrapped) over the last year so one cup a day this month should get me there. I can then use the massive jar to actually store "regular" teabags as the jar has to sit on the side because it's too big for a cupboard and it just makes more sense to have it full of the things we actually use all the time.
On that note, I'm off to make a cup of tea, hope everyone has a good day.Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 201722 -
Close them down, even though you aren't using them they are effectively holding that value in your available credit.BlueJ94 said:

Not quite sure if it is right to say that it’s great to see is not just me who has so much clutter?!
I’ve written my to do list for today and, have tried to keep it realistic.
Think dd1 is pleased that i’ve started to tackle the kitchen as it means that i’ve room to cook ‘proper’ food and she steals leftovers for work the next day which saves her time making lunch. She not being lazy but works long hours.
Has anyone on here ever had their loft boarded so they can store things up there? I am curious of the price if anyone minds sharing. I realise there’s more to it but just gives me a rough idea. Not quite at the stage where i want someone to do a quote and someone after a sale.
I hate using ladders so it would literally be for xmas decs, suitcases etc and not somewhere to hide clutter!
Don’t put it down - put it away!

B@q partner have an offer just now of home delivery of 10 packs of chipboard loft boards but its a bit more expensive than if you just want a couple of packs and can pick them up yourself (£40 delivery charge basically so check what your proper b@q locally would charge for delivery). Single packs are £15 and if you don't mind osb its only £13 a pack. They are fine in all respects unless you want the smoother chipboard which is much easier to slide boxes over.
Separate the packs out downstairs (you get 3 boards in each pack) and hand each board up individually. They are tongue and groove so you can organise them around the hatch in a pattern to suit the things you want to store. Its the kind of thing you can do piecemeal getting a pack a month to spread the costs out and stop when you have done as much as you want

tibawo, my daughter had her loft boarded last year I think it was about £1,000.
