4. Commence ‘Operation Financial Frog Tickling’ using the acronym - I.R.I.S. (Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off) - One per quarter
5. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
6. Plan & Execute ONE Major Project - 2026 New Bathroom
7. Target 2026 items out

Wednesday continued: I received several emails from Sky but none confirming a date for installation, so still in limbo ☹️ Dinner was bits & pieces - DSis had a ready made tuna pasta bake, DH had chipolata sandwiches & I had cheese & marmalade rolls. Wudupa

Beach was fun but im super tired this morning! Hardly any surveys done yesterday so I neee to do more today. I really hurt my shoulder in work too yesterday 😩

Strangely enough it is a shade of lime green that I would never use. @Daisy-1571, thanks for the video . I watched it and found it useful in that I now need to break down the admin stuff into small categories. I managed all the car change stuff so now another topic. I loved her accent so two reasons to watch her again.

Morning. @suzeesu2000 - a few years ago I posted a school picture from the 1950s which included one of my brothers, who died 15 years ago, on a local history fb group - a few days later I got messaged by the person standing next to my brother - he was very pleased to see the picture and remembered my brother well. As I have gone through old papers etc of late DM and Dmil, I have looked out for things that might be of interest to others. I have tried to find relatives of people where my mother had kept wedding invitations etc. I also posted an unknown large group wedding photo with my mother on the periphery and a lady posted back to say she was the small bridesmaid in the front row. She confirmed it was her aunt's wedding in 1941 and gave me the names of the couple and said that the bride had lived opposite my grandparent's baker's shop which I guess was how she knew my mum who would have been about the same age.

Not done much useful on the decluttering front as leg is giving me gip. Its very windy here even Sox decided to cut his morning outing short, DS2 just dropped in with school jumper for DGS4. He had a great trip out yesterday but is tired and a little tearful as he reaches the end of primary school - not helped by wanting to watch football at silly times. Plumber is coming this morning to move radiator position in hall and service boiler. Once that is done I'll see when builder can come and finish hall. I have a few more paperwork frogs to deal with today and school play this afternoon.

Spoke to Dsil yesterday and she is slowly improving at home after knee replacement. She has terrible bruising on hands and arms as a result of needles etc. She is getting about her flat with zimmer and managed to shower on her own yesterday. Her daughters call in all the time.

Hopefully I can report some decluttering in next post.

Morning all.

Re the rug saga - yes the first one I received had two faulty corners - told to keep it or dispose and a second rug would be sent. I kept the first rug and have repaired it hence photos. The second rug to arrive had 2 faulty corners, so I phoned the company again. I was told that a third rug would be sent with care taken to ensure all the corners were perfect. I am just repairing corners on the second rug. First rug was destined for my craft room.

When the third rug arrived, I was past looking carefully at rugs - I just laid it in the new lounge - one corner does need a few stitches. The second rug will go in the spare bedroom - I am hoping there is room for it - no room on floor in my bedroom which is bigger than the planned guest bedroom. There will be a double bed in guest room while I have a king size in mine. If the rug doesn't fit in guest bedroom - I don't know where I will put it.

I expected a rug costing nearly £100 to be perfect - may be I am too finicky but now have 3 rugs for that price. Very good customer service from the company.

I plan to pop out to shop with a cool bag as I want to buy ice cream, lollies and chips.

I didn't contact the sewing machine supplier yesterday - I didn't feel mentally strong enough.

Operation loft and garage 2026 has had some more movement. Three storage boxes from the loft have been emptied. Some items already in the car to be recycled however, some have made their way into my garage to be taken to a charity shop.

I did manage to move some more items in the garage and created a 'skip' pile for the arrival of said skip. That should be around 3 weeks away.

The loft feels a lot better and so huge progress has been made there. There isn't much more I can do with the loft now.

Also closed an unused bank account. Filed things that needed to be moved from the spare room into the loft. I seem to now have loads of plastic storage boxes. I will contemplate what to do with them.

Shopping trip done, I am well stocked with ice cream and lollies.. The buses were very full today - I had to stand for part of the journey.

As I said on my previous message - I wasn't feeling strong enough mentally to deal with the sewing machine issue yesterday. I had been sent a text which I hadn't read.

This morning the company phoned me.

On Monday a chap is coming with a brand new machine - setting it up and taking the other one away. They mentioned signing something when the machine is shown to be working. Is this something I have to do?

Broken mug binned and replaced.

4 forks bought as mine seem to be disappearing, plus a scrubbing brush for the travel flasks.

I've managed to re-home some flower seed, to realise that I could have done with one of the packs and am trying to be sensible about replacing it.

One of the plants in the flowerbed had some sort of powdery fungus, plus the cutting I took, so without using common sense I put them in the composter, then realised that the other plants had been slightly affected as did the same. I'd previously pulled out the flowers I'd sown from seed as I'd put too many down, plus it all was flopping everywhere and to allow for better air circulation.

I've had a slight problem with a powdery fungus, and am tempted to turn the bed into a micro meadow and see what happens

i have seen that ebay gives suggestions for stuff you have bought that you might want to resell. There are a couple of things that I have bought that don’t quite fit or don’t spark joy so I’m going to relist them.

With the heat and our house facing east west we have been roasting. I have been thinking about external blinds. I saw a couple of posts with ideas for sash windows but they wouldn’t work for our casement windows. I have repurposed an old duvet cover to make external blinds to test whether they are worthwhile. I attached blind cord to the top corners and shut the side windows trapping the edge of the fabric. I hold the cord not to trap my fingers. Today i looked at the temperature difference between the windows with external blinds and those with the internal blinds and curtains shut. On the east side of the house there is between a 5 and 8 degree difference between the ones with and without an external blind. The internal blinds are making a little difference bit the heat is inside.

The trap the corners technique, isn’t hard to install even on my own, but it looks rubbish and I can’t open the side windows without it falling. I am going to make the three bedroom windows more ‘proper’ by screwing vine eyes to the soffit boards and use carabiners to attach some waterproof fabric. If i have the vine eyes a few inches from the window I will be able to open the windows without clashing with the blinds. I have bought a selection of carabiners to try and ordered some fabric. The fabric is thicker than the poor old duvet cover. It matches our campervan fabric so I might use the blinds on the outside of our van when we are away.
