Morning all.
Blinds are staying shut in the craft room. Temperature in my craft room is 24.5
Finished another gnome last night.
This one is Sebastian. He is the last gnome with a name starting with S. I have made five S names and will make five A names for SA.
J was here for 2 and a half hours - painted 8 doors and the ceiling hatch.

Gosh it's baking today. Feel bad for sending the kids to school, but to be honest, they are doing a good job at keeping the kids cool and here they would be trapped in the one room with a portable air con unit and would be climbing the walls…. DH picked them up after school ended and took them to somewhere with proper air con!
Baking and cooking is not on the cards right now and I am in the kitchen as little as physically possible. Feeling very overwhelmed today… I know I have stuff to get rid of, but can't see where these things are and this draining heat means I am definitely not up for any difficult decisions. So, to ensure something is done today, I decided to walk around the house and open all the cupboards/drawers and try to find one thing I know I don't need. I only have 30s to find something and if I can't or am dithering about it, I close the cupboard/drawer and move on. Seemed to work quite well and now the areas that need work are immediately obvious as I dithered and closed the door 😂
I ignored any food cupboards as I do need to go through and use these things up, but I refuse to think about any cooking or baking in this heat!
Nevertheless, more things have left, so it's all going in the right direction and it only took me about 15 mins:

Teacher daughter in London finished early - girls were sent home at midday. They were meant to be doing a dress rehearsal of Beauty and the Beast - but too hot - especially for the poor girl dressed in fur as the beast.
I had a lazy day - sat and sewed up knitting and stuffed & finished another gnome - Alfred - he has different colour legs so is autistic.
Dr daughter in Cheshire is on holiday at home today but too hot to do what she planned in the garden.
Just done the ironing.

Hi chums have we all melted yet .I just stuck my head quickly into the conservatory and the barometer there said 44c at 3.30 pm this afternoon.
Our builder have finally gone bless them we had the main bathroom and my en suite completely renovated and redone DD had the bath removed and a larger shower put in as they normally showered anyway and it was only DGS Jack who bathed when he came to visit. So a lot less water wasted at least .
DGS Mikey has finished Uni and wilI be home this Saturday. I was really pleased as he got the 2.1 he wanted so I will treat him to something nice when he is home again.
I think I'm slowly cooking at the moment its so hot and sticky not a breath of air anywhee
Drink lots of water chums and leave the housework for a cooler day

I'm wilting. Had a hospital appointment this morning and was amazed that this huge building that is full of sick people and hard working NHS types had no air con, very few fans and no drinking water available for anyone. I hate to think what it's like on the wards. Thankfully I wasn't there for long. (diagnosis MGUS and have to have a blood test in 6 months)
Gardeners wilted this afternoon and left early. I don't blame them and they got the essentials I needed doing done. Ok so a portion of the lawn hasn't been mowed since last August but it's turned into a wild flower patch and looks very pretty.
And just because it's normal cold and damp in the UK we fly to Crete tomorrow. It's cooler there!!

Not much to report as it is too warm. DS2 did come up and sort swimming pool filters out and fixed power washer for me (I am not strong enough sometimes to put things together). I have washed a paved area which was absolutely filthy. It is not level - not sure whether to get stones relaid and keep it but it is more useable now. Managed to drop a broken paver against wooden fence which is now split. I went out for monthly lunch - I had prebooked roast dinner but it was actually very nice and room was air conditioned. Came back, took DS2 for hospital appointment and did some more power washing. Lovely neighbours came round to see if I had anything for their skip which wasn't full. They came round with wheelbarrow and collected three large pots and 4 bags of concrete rubble. They showed me round what they have done of their house (it was in pretty much the same state as mine and is a similar size perhaps very slightly larger).
DGS3 is coming round Friday to do some more jobs for pennies. DGD4 is 14 tomorrow so barbecue at DS2s in the evening. They are off to a friend's caravan as a surprise for the children on Friday.
638 Patio area cleaned
639-645 Bags and pots of rubble
Plumber coming tomorrow to move radiator pipework in hall and service boiler.

Wednesday continued: I had a very lazy day after DH left. Made myself a coffee & sat outside in the shade reading a book. A neighbour called round & gave me a message for our hosts. Mrs Host came out & I delivered the message & we chatted for a while. I resumed my reading & finished my first book & selected a 2nd. DH got back just before 16:00 - he was very hot & sweaty but had had a successful day & managed to get photos of 8 old landmarks & fill up with petrol. DH had a shower so felt human again 😉 We had intended to have fish & chips for dinner but decided that was too heavy a meal for a hot day, so we had pasta with a bolognese sauce + garlic bread. Again accompanied by lots of cold drinks & free flowing conversation. Another lovely evening ☺️ I finally finished reading the 2nd book just before midnight.TC77, I have no doubt you will reach 1,000 by the end of the month ☺️ Shame that the watchers on your listings haven’t turned into buyers ☹️ but maybe when the weather cools down they might be more inclined to buy 🤞
dND, whenever I see people posting about vet bills or read the booklet I receive from PDSA, I cannot believe how expensive it is ☹️
regnbue, hope your hospital visit goes well tomorrow & that there is air conditioning 🤞Beautiful flowers 😍
Florenceem, I love Sebastian 😊 More excellent work by young J 👏
QueenJess, what a great idea resulting in some excellent decluttering 👏
Florenceem, you are certainly completing the gnomes very quickly 🤩 Hopefully both your daughters managed to stay cool & hydrated 🤞
London_1, 44° in the conservatory 🥵 no wonder you only popped your head in. Good news about the building work on main bathroom & your en suite being completed 👏 Congratulations to your DS Mikey 🥳 what a great result 👏 It only seems like yesterday that he started his uni course 😉
Brie, that is appalling to hear that there was no air con & no drinking water in the hospital 😱 Sorry to hear about your diagnosis & I will keep everything crossed that it stays the same 🤞 Enjoy your holiday in Crete ☺️
GrannyKate, you have been busy 👏 Pleased to hear that you enjoyed your roast dinner 😊 Happy Birthday to DGD4 🥳 🎂

Morning!
One of the dogs was sooo hot last night he woke me up at 12am and then 1.20am! It was way too warm in the bedroom and we had the fan on and the windows open but he just couldn't cope, so I grabbed my pillow and a thin throw and we slept downstairs and this is him right now 😴
So im very very tired!

We have a lovely breeze here today.
I fed the birds and went in the post office for stamps - it was empty.
Another sack of donations taken to the charity shop.
I went to the carpet shop, chose a richer brown for the stairs - more expensive.
My sofa is coming on Saturday.
I have asked J to come here tomorrow as we need to move the boxes of furniture out of the lounge - where he put them while decorating.
I have a parcel due to arrive at Asd. - I will go to collect it and stock up on ice lollies.
