My J was here from 8.30 to after 2. He has finished all the colour walls and started on the woodwork. All the upstairs door frames are painted, the skirting board upstairs and all the stairs edges down to the bottom.
J came downstairs with one of my Shark hoovers - it wouldn't work - it was the filters - they have been working hard too.
I popped round to Asd. for some milk and got some Twix ice cream bars - I wasn't impressed with them.
Bestie has just called in to see me.
When I went out - there was a lovely breeze and clouds in the sky.

I feel like I've been hibernating today with all the blinds and curtains shut. Every time I got up for a drink or something, I scouted around for anything that should be decluttered. I am incredibly slowly pulling things together. I think there is a few items in every drawer or cupboard, but as there aren't many in each, finding them is a bit more tricky. I think little and often is the easiest way at the moment.
I've pulled out all my packaging plastic bags with the aim to use them up for decluttering items. I think I have about 27, but don't worry as I also have jiffy bags and a few larger paper ones, so I won't be running out any time soon!
I did fill up another (small) charity bag and have started the next one.
1 - puzzle I don’t want to remake (Buy Nothing)
1 - OOD medication (chemist)
1 - kids craft stuff unused (charity bag)
2 - paper, reused then recycled

3 - packaging reused

1 - paperwork recycled

the half hour delay due to air con in the car????
a year back or so when it was stupidly hot we had someone parked on the side road which faces us. Engine going, headlights on. After the initial annoyance I realised someone was sleeping in their car likely because it was the only place to be comfortable.
I did consider going out and asking him/her to a) turn off their headlights that were shining in our bedroom window, b) turn down the radio or put something soothing on, and c) set their alarm to wake them in an hour or 2 and then move on to bother some other neighbourhood.
I didn't go out as I couldn't decide whether I'd be more effective if I was dressed or not. (& I do mean not)

so much no! DH and I are not enjoying this heat. I know some folk do and I wish them well but it’s no fun here.
We didn’t get a drop of rain or a crack of thunder last night.
Friend came round today for me to make a charity hamper up, her work is raffling it.
Decluttered a coat rack. We’ve had it a while and the hook bits were brittle and breaking so it’s gone.
Took the nauticalia things out the bathroom. Having a change.Hope everyone is okay. Please take extra care in this heat. Have a good night, sweet dreams xx

@[Deleted User] it was fun. Hugh Dennis was compère and kept things moving really smoothly.
I had a brooch with the judges comment ‘Quietly Disruptive’, I now have one on order saying Highly Commended’. :)

Tuesday continued: after packing up the bike DH headed off to get petrol whilst I walked round to the road. By 10:00 it had brightened up considerably & the further south we rode the clearer the sky got & the warmer the sun - bike temperature gauge registered 28°C at 14:00. We got 3 new landmarks & 2 old ones & then as we were both swelteringly hot we found a café. After cappuccinos, a bottle of lemon Fanta, mincemeat shortbread slice, lemon meringue pie & 2 cornet ice creams - raspberry ripple & mint chocolate chip we were both hydrated & feeling comfortable. Coats back on & 30 minutes later we arrived at our destination 😊 The sun is shining brightly in a blue sky studded with fluffy white clouds & there is an occasional cooling breeze. DH has already showered & I am about to do the same. All freshly scrubbed & feeling a lot cooler 😊
Today’s menagerie: sheep, cows, horses, ponies, magpies, donkeys + DH saw a rabbit & a Grey squirrel.
I will try & catch up with the cheerleading now:
Florenceem, the strawberry tea sounds wonderful 🤩 & very pleased to hear that you found a shady spot with some breeze 😮💨 Thank goodness they used paper plates this year, otherwise you night still be washing up 😉 I love the idea of “watching hoarder programmes as therapy” 😅 I might have to try that when I get home 🤔
suzeesu2000, your description of modern houses is spot on 👏 That is probably why my DSis can’t cope with the heat in England 😞 She lived in a large farmhouse in France with thick stone walls & stone floors + shutters on the windows so could get cool just by going indoors + she had the use of a pool when there were no guests in the gîte 😊 I echo your words to our Declutterati family about staying hydrated & avoiding the sun as much as possible.
Liverpool_Anne, another busy day for you 👏 I love your descriptive turn of phrase “The bin bags are forming an orderly queue on the landing” 😂 Oops to the prang 😬 but did enjoy hearing about the “banter” 😉 I keep hoping all the smaller teams get through to the knockout stages & that there is an unexpected winner 🤞
TC77, sounds like your mojo is on holiday with me as well 😉
Florenceem, I do hope the storm & all the rain freshened up the air & made it feel less muggy 🤞 Hopefully J finished the decorating before it became too hot for you to go out 🤞
Excellent decluttering QueenJess 👏 Hopefully inspiration struck & you found something else to declutter 🤞 Enjoy your air con unit ☺️ You do know that if your children love having the air con unit upstairs you may never get it back 🙊
Lovely cheerleading _Dolly_Rocker_ ☺️ Fingers crossed that the chemist can give you something stronger for your hayfever 🤞 Such a considerate thing to do by cancelling dog walks 🥹
Willowtree222, sorry to hear about your hayfever 🥺
Brie, love it 😻
BlueJ94, how generous of them 🙊
Brie, how kind of that blackbird 😖
DH & I have spent a lovely few hours with our hosts 🥹 Pizza, curly fries & salad bits for dinner 😋 The cold drinks flowed as did the conversation ☺️ It is pleasantly warm but several degrees cooler at 19°C.
Florenceem, wow young J has worked really hard today 🤩 so I am awarding him a Gold Star ⭐️ Pleased to hear that it was slightly cooler when you were out & about ☺️
QueenJess, you might have been hibernating but you still managed a good amount of decluttering 👏 Good luck using up your “packaging plastic bags” 🍀
BlueJ94, hopefully you watered yourself too 😉
Brie, how inconsiderate 😖 I would have loved to have seen how quickly the person moved on if you had gone out undressed 😂
suzeesu2000, hopefully the temperatures didn’t reach 40°C which is what my DSis would have had if she had still been living in France 🥵
florianatwobob, I like Hugh Dennis - a very funny man 😂
Sleep tight everyone 😴 hopefully you can each find a cool spot in your homes without having to resort to sticking your heads in the fridge or freezer🤞
