Condolences @Mrs_Salad_Dodger 💕
.☀️☀️☀️ It's warm! It reminds me that this was one of the reasons I moved back from France as these temperatures were becoming normal with peaks of 40+C!! The plus side is I had a chance to sort out a hot weather protocol. Once it's over 27C I try to avoid going outside and hide indoors. No shutters here but curtains closed and windows not opened until the outside temperature is lower than the inside temperature.
I was trying to explain to a friend of mine that while she feels having the windows open during the day because the breeze is cooling, it's only the evaporation of sweat with the breeze that makes you feel cool. That breeze it's self is 30C and is heating up the house. 😔
They were very insistent in France to take precautions against the heat; the news bulletins were always showing people staying indoors, having fluids and keeping cool as heat is a silent killer.Duvet is off the bed and a cotton flat sheet put on instead - I still worry about mozzies especially as tiger mosquitoes were moving into my area of France and they are apparently starting to come over here as the climate warms. We should be starting to think about that and not encouraging people to fill their gardens with dipping ponds - basically stagnant water where mosquitoes breed - says she who has just put in 2 mini ponds. I'm going to have to find a way to square that circle.
Icepacks have been loaded back into the freezer and I'm placing one in a wash mitt at night to either cuddle or place on the back of my neck when I go to bed to make sure I get my core temperature down each night. The last 2 days have been spent deep cleaning the kitchen carpet, washing and reproofing rainwear and cooking. I now have a mega batch of potato salad, made the next batch of curd cheese and am currently finishing off cooking a large batch of peperonata.- courtesy of a couple of veg boxes I had 9 peppers that needed using up. 🤣
I managed half an hour in the garden before 8am this morning so was finally able to tie in the dozen tomato plants I put in the other day, before the sun peeped round the edge of the house and the temperature shot up.
I was awake far too early this morning so once the peperonata is portioned ready for the freezer I think I shall be retiring to bed for a short while to reset my back and maybe even doze.
Take care of yourselves everyone, hugs to those who want and love to you all. Dxx

I needed some shopping so went out this morning. I went and decluttered money for a deposit at the blinds shop. I took my donations to the charity shop.
I had to wait a long time for a bus to Lid. and then 2 turned up.
Got my shopping and again had to wait for a bus.
I have refilled my shopping trolley for the charity shop. So much is leaving the house but lots more to sort.
My J is 29 today.
Builder J is meant to be coming here this afternoon. As I typed this - J rang - he still has a lot to do on the doors and framework so won't be here until tomorrow morning.
I want to find the stuff I need for my next knitting project so will look - where I think it is. Everything is everywhere. I am keeping to my plan of nothing but food entering my house.

Gardeners have sweated profusely decluttering one border of huge clumps of "decorative" (in whose world?) grass. And planted some freebie plants that have been threatening to die in the heat over the last week. And I have decluttered their payment already so I don't have to worry about whether I've paid or not at 3 am.

Tuesday continued: The previous tenants from next door turned up to sort out the back garden. DH was in our back garden trimming the hedge as he couldn’t reach the wormeries. I decided we would have salad for dinner so we needed to go shopping. DH drove me to As*a - it was packed. Found everything we wanted apart from potato salad & egg mayonnaise 😞 The ice cream & ice lolly cabinets had been practically gutted. Queued for 23 minutes at the only manned checkout. I posted some birthday cards on the way home. It made a pleasant change having a salad for dinner. Wudupa

Morning ,
I would have posted last night but I went for an early evening stroll and put sun cream on that melted and got in my eyes.. usually a minor short lived irritation but they watered for hours despite bathing with an egg cup ( must get an eye bath) and still sore and watering abit this morning. Is high factor cream worse and if its old? Being mse i was trying to use it up.
DB drove up to london last night and brought all the bedding from.my dad's 2 big old suitcases full and v heavy , bags and duvet and blankets loose. I have asked the donation hub if they will collect.otherwise it will be many trips with my trolley. Also some clothes which I'd noticed all missing a button so I had offered to use my button stash as know I have matches - v good but heavy Harris tweed coat / jacket etc before passing on.
Some progress, papers x 3 , 4 pens, plastic wallets, paint, DIY bits, clothing item and packaging, but more importantly things out in the right place , cupboard tidied and more labelled. And the offending sun cream out!
Mrs SD shame the ice cream and lollies were low but excellent idea to have salad in this weather. Dd1 rang proudly telling me she was having one of her homemade lollies remembering we made them when she was little.
