The 'person' in question really must have spent ages registering new accounts to try and get their thanks increased! I wish I had enough time like that to up mine!0

It may be "sad" that noticing the number of "thanks" is their only recognition for the time they spend online trying to help others, however pointing out that they should "Get a life" is rather pointless, the equivalent of telling someone with agoraphobia they should "Get out more". I would if I could, just show me how.
I apologise if my use of the phrase 'get out more' earlier in the thread was rather insensitive. No offence was meant.
In my opinion, it is sad to be so obsessed by the number of 'thanks' on a website, to go to the time and trouble of setting up different usernames and thanking your own posts!
It is nice when other people do use the 'thanks' button and recognise that you are trying to contribute to the site (in whatever way.) There are far more important/enjoyable things to think about though, IMHO, than getting obsessed about the number of times you have been thanked.
Ted, you are a well-respected and very informative member of the site, I'm sure you don't need a high 'thanks' total to prove that.0 -

Apparently, he thinks the system is f***infg stoopid (his words). He vehemently denied that it was him, but his friends; but then proceeded to explain why he was doing this. He has personal issues with one or two people round here.
For one if your are going to quote from hear say please make sure you are 100% correct before you type anything which can later be proven and make you look stupid.
That was some post for someone who isn't bothered and attracted a lot of replies from more people who are not bothered.
The point of the thanks button has now been highlighted and the point of the posts regarding it has now been proven and it has acheived it's aim:):)

Ted_Hutchinson wrote:I would also prefer that the totals of those most regularly thanked posters should be listed in each particular forum.
This would enable a wider spread of "experts" in particular areas of knowledge to be represented. I don't know who the most frequent, regularly thanked person is in, for example, the "Credit Card" thread is but having it flagged up in that forum heading would enable a new member to suss out who can usually be relied on. The same would go for each of the forums. Having a forum based, rather than site based list, would reduce the potential for abuse.Torgwen.....................

I have attracted criticism (rightly in respect of this mis-quote) for bringing this to light.
you chose not to reply last night to a request to comment on this
your friend m00nie presumably told you about this thread from a visit earlier today
As I said before, if you wish to treat forum members, especially Arms regulars, as muppets they will soon realise the level of mutual respect that truly applies. If you have personal issues about the conduct of the site or particular members other than me, you should take them up in private and not treat us all with such naked contempt
Even after I asked for an explanation last nght, we find Lang Shang Po thanking you 192 times this morning - hardly remorse or reform0 -
