It’s that time again! As we wrap up one year and get ready to step into the next, the 26 for 2026 Challenge is officially open (and no I'm not using this as a way to procrastinate over my current 25 for 2025 list 🫣)

If you fancy a bit of motivation, reflection, or just a fun way to track your year, come and join in.

If you’ve taken part before, you’ll know the drill. For anyone new, the idea is simple:

  • Create a list of 26 goals for 2026.
  • They can be things you want to do 26 times, or simply 26 things you want to achieve over the year.
  • Big or small, fun or serious, practical or personal, it’s entirely up to you. The focus is progress, not perfection. (I’ve never completed a full list!, but I always finish the year in a better place than I started!
If you want inspiration, here are the original threads: 20 20s for 202021 things, 21 times in 20212022 New Year's Resolutions Thread23 for 202324 for 2024 & 25 for 2025

To join, just post your list below and pop back as often as you like to update your progress. Looking forward to seeing everyone’s goals for the year ahead!

As for me, I'll kick us off and these are my ideas currently for 26 for 2026!

  1. Answer 26 journal prompts of self-discovery and awareness (One year I swear I will face my fears and do this!!!!)
  2. Celebrate 26 things e.g. National / Awareness Days etc.
  3. Complete 26 hobbies that make me happy
  4. Complete 26 things off the master to-do list
  5. Deep Clean / Declutter 26 areas around the house
  6. 26 Donations to charity / Food banks
  7. Enter an average of 26 competitions per day
  8. Get rid of 26 items from loft / garage
  9. Learn / Do / Try 26 new things
  10. Play 26 Games
  11. Spend 26 mins each week budgeting / planning
  12. Spend 26 mins each week organising photos!
  13. Walk 10,000 26 times
  14. Watch 26 new to-me films
  15. Complete 26 days a month of my Bujo
  16. Lose 26lbs
  17. Read 26 Books
  18. Save £2026 over the year
  19. Sell 26 things on ebay / booty sites
  20. Watch 26 new to-me documentaries
  21. 26 Recipes I've not tried
  22. Do 26 things that bring me joy (days out, trips, things with family etc)
  23. Meal plan for at least 26 weeks and stick to it!
  24. 26 New places
  25. 26 New playlists or albums
  26. TBC!

Still working on my alphabets - got very excited when I realised QI (which I love) episodes all still up then realised they'll only get to X next year so can't use that :-( I do however love the idea of scavenger hunts.

No problems, and feel free to share your ideas so far. I was thinking about mine last night whilst I was driving back from a late meeting and I tempted to remove the album one from mine as I'm much more of a playlist girl! and it stresses me out more than most of them 🤣 So I'm definitely on the hunt for more ideas!

Well, one of mine is to lose 26lbs so I added another to have 260 days of eating less fats and sugars. Still got to do more thinking though. x

Of course people can join we're a friendly bunch, perhaps post what you want to focus on, what you like doing and see if anyone can help come up with a few ideas for you.

@DundeeDoll your Alphabet challenge has gotten me thinking about a book I had as a child (and still have!) which I loved doing. It's out of print now, but it's called The Ultimate Alphabet by Mike Wilks I used to spend hours studying the pictures and ticking off what I found in the little booklet that came with it, obviously this was at a time before the internet came around, so I used to go to the library to look up pictures of flags / birds etc.  I know you can pick up copies now really cheaply, so maybe see if you can lay your hands on a copy and then research 26 subject areas to help you make a start on the book if that makes sense?
