I’ve been on my feet for most of the day again.I started with what will be the new bedroom as the floor in there was still covered in grot from the plastering. I wasn’t going to use the stick vacuum as DH had it to bits last week cleaning it so I used hubby’s favourite a cheaply thing that was only supposed to hoover the car. All was well until it packed up so I replaced it from where it came and he is none the wiser until he realises it’s full of plaster!Dog walked and additional tablets picked up.
I then tackled the stairs which were filthy due to the toadies up and down and gave the banister a good scrub. Living room 1 completed apart from the throws I set aside to wash.DH returned and unloaded the car into the dining room then informed me it was exercise day.
Did those and then onto the other room once I’d taken DH stuff upstairs.Remnants of building materials relocated and its all done apart from the floor which I will wash tomorrow.
2 x WM/TD
Dinner cooked and cleared away. DW is on.
Tomorrow will be sorting shoe mountain in the hallway and mopping the floor, Sunday I might put a washcoat on the run room if plaster is dry enough.
Hope HB and Wren are ok xMortgage, paid off!7 -
- cake made, iced, seemingly enjoyed by line dancers. Will freeze the remainder.Narc0lepsy said:Tomorrow is make the cake, aqua aerobics, home via Mr T to get more flowers (and I'm sure there was something else only I can't remember what), make an arrangement for SIL and Mum, ice the cake, maybe put the snowman on the gatepost, go to zumba, home to collect cake and walk to line dance. That will do for a start.
- did aqua aerobics
- flowers still fairly low standard but I got some. Finished arrangement for SIL.
- remembered the other thing I wanted: a new Xmas T-shirt. M@t@lan didn't have any, nor did anywhere Mr N went when I messaged him while he was in town.
- then fairly hectic time as 2 emails from care home informed us that several residents (not Mum) had chest infections (she had one last month). While visits are permitted, it is at own risk. Various phone calls ensued: I rang care home, then stepbrother (who is still on no driving/minimal risk-taking as he had his pacemaker upgraded a couple of weeks ago). Stepbrother's cat is apparently dying so can't be left overnight - hence SIL planned to drive to Dorset from London, there and back, on 2 consecutive days. Sounds a bad idea as she is older than me and I'd be reluctant. So plan B is for me to ring care home tomorrow and see if it is wise for me to visit on Sunday as planned; SIL plans to rush in and see Mum on Monday for about 10mins (leaving stepb in car) before meeting Mr N and I, DB and SIL for the meal we've booked. Just thinking about all of it exhausts me. Lots more messages/calls back and forth so we all know what is going on. I emailed Mum's best friend to dissuade her from visiting for a few days. Phew.
- did a load of washing up and as much tidying as I could after cake-making and flower-snipping.
- went to zumba.
- went to Xmas line dancing. Quite good fun but I was really flagging about half an hour before the end so did a bit of glass-collecting and food sorting-out then came home.
So, tomorrow: would love to go swimming to de-stress but I may not have time; do Mum's arrangement; sort through cards to see if anything can be posted/delivered; pack clothes for weekend; print charity gift info for SILs (if I don't do that now in a final burst of energy). Who knows what else.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.9 -

I was really flagging about half an hour before the end ....Hardly surprising given the amount you've achieved! I hope your mother stays clear of the chest infection and you and your family all have safe journeys.Dog Stuff. Ignore if not interested. We had a call mid-morning from a different vet from the one I thought was going to do the surgery to say that he wasn't sure the initial diagnosis was accurate, he would go ahead and operate with my agreement with a new plan, so that's what happened. She was discharged about 4.30 which was much later than originally hoped because ... slight complications. The upshot of it is that I'm absolutely exhausted and not firing on all cylinders. Wren is the priority and will need very careful care for a few days. The really good news is that this more senior vet doesn't think it's sinister and I was given the choice of a cone of shame or snazzy pyjamas so she's looking very fetching in her lovely soft blue pjs which she has to wear for about 10 days continuously and we have to unpopper and popper up before and after loo breaks. They advised walking her around the garden for loo breaks on a lead which confused her horribly last night which meant she tried to squeeze under the gate and wouldn't pee until much later on the new carpet through her pjs, which then had to be rinsed and worn damp which isn't ideal. This morning I've ignored the vet nurse's strict instructions, let her do her normal thing in the garden and she pee'd as per usual. Much better. And she ate a hearty breakfast so that's a great sign. She's on one liquid dose a day of pain relief and we've got strict instructions to give her that at 11.30am. Alarm, set. She's back to the same vet at 5.15 on Monday for a post-op check as he's a bit concerned by something and wants to double check her.I was so exhausted after yesterday that I completely forgot that she really needed her crate cleaned out, a complete change of bedding and spare clean bedding to go on in case of problems, so I'm a bit concerned she might have picked up something from the much used bedding overnight, all of which I could have done yesterday while she was under the knife. I've done it all this morning, the WM is twirling with the first load and the forecast is excellent for a couple of days so I can wash absolutely everything. I hope I've done enough to prevent an infection but it's a risk I shouldn't have taken. We're off to St Malo on a 36 hour trip on Thursday night so I've texted our wonderful dog sitter and asked if she's still happy to take her and lovely lady that she is - she will. Fingers well and truly crossed that there are no complications and she recovers fully. She certainly seems her happy normal self this morning which is a huge relief.Better is good enough.8 -
Morning all,
My list for today
Take DD to her riding lesson
Do paid work that is in for today (a little bit to finish off)
Do uni work (assessment and exam deadlines next week)
Deal with Mr T delivery
Update diary for next week (it's going to be a busy week, so much work, uni work and festive stuff to get done)
Laundry x 3 loads
Family trip into town, we got gifted a fish tank, so we have decided to get some fish as the kids recently lost their guinea pigs)
Try other gift cards whilst in town I forgot to take the cards so will need to do at a later date.
Put up outside lights if the wind calms It's been windy all day so haven't managed this task
Take DD to the stables so she can feed and check on her pony.
I think that is everything that I need to tackle today. I hope everyone has a lovely Saturday.

Morning all,
Gentle strokes for brave girl Wren. And hugs to HB and Narc0 as they sound like they really need one x.
I have had a pleasant morning so far - DH has taken DD to the station for her weekend away and then he is off cruising the builders merchants, picking up various bits. The music is on (Fleetwood Mac atm for anyone that’s interested!), I have made 2 batches of eclairs as I luckily remembered that I had promised to take a sweet treat contribution to dinner out this evening. Eclairs and madeleines are my equivalent of Valli’s lemon posset.I have WULTD, wm run, handily with all the cleaning cloths in so flying is out of the question 😉. Ok, yes I have spares, but where is the fun in that.
The priority for the rest of the day is present sorting and who knows, maybe even some wrapping.7 -
Hello all.
Hugs where needed. Glad that Wren is perky today.
I have done the dailies and dog walk and made a syrup sponge for later. My enthusiasm to do anything else has left me but as I'm on day two of five off paid stuff, it doesn't really matter. Wordle in five, two lines on connections (purple first) and strands with six hints.
Spend less now, work less later.8 -
I hope Wren recovers well and that it isn't anything really nasty.
So far I've managed to do Mum's flowers (admittedly at 3.30am as I woke up; bonus of seeing one shooting star as it was a clear night), have a lovely lake swim (one kingfisher and a few fairies) and have printed off charity info to put in cards (while playing my favourite metal version of O Holy Night by Adrienne Cowen).
Mr N has done a great job of present wrapping, he's way neater than me; my job is all the cards.
Have a great weekend everyone.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.8 -
My flylady cards have just arrived 🥰. Thank you to Natty for organising us all again x. Is it so bad that I have hidden the chocolate coins so that I feel guilty about not sharing 🤔. Thank you, I thought you would all agree with me 🤣 xx6

Hidden them? I've eaten mine! 😋
Thank you to Natty for organising the card swap. And thank you to all who sent me such lovely cards ♥ And the chocolate ❤
Hello everyone. 👋
I was so busy getting the Saturdailies done this morning that I forgot to post. Priority this afternoon is to get all Christmas cards written.
Love to Narc0 - I'm exhausted at the thought of how much you fit into each day.
Love and gentle hugs to HB and Wren. Healing posivibes being sent through the ether.
Hope you're all having a good day.

I have a full line of washing - not sure if it will dry but it will certainly lighten up. Rabbit hutch, cleaned, shifted and swept out so that's drying. DD's coffee machine was making odd noises so I have googled it, watched a video, failed to unfasten outer ring as per video so out came my little socket and screwdriver set ( middle of purchase some years ago which has proved useful on many an occasion) undone nut, released outer grinder section and discovered that a stone had got in there! Must have been in a bean bag. So all cleaned, washed bits drying and I'm hopeful it'll be fine now. I'm happy to have her make me a coffee but I don't use it.
Glad to hear Wren eating well - a very good sign IMO.
