2 hours of free electricity showing for tomorrow from 02:00 - 04:00 - wholesale prices are nowhere near zero, so is this to do with the football world cup? I thought that the Ts & Cs said that this only applied to tariffs with 2 or fewer unit rates… unless they've changed them?

EDF have auto-enrolled all FP customers onto this. No registration is needed

EDF posted on Facebook 1 June
"Yes, you’re correct that the terms state you must be on a tariff that has no more than two rates. However, similar to our Christmas day free electricity event, we wanted to allow our FreePhase customers to benefit from the offer as well"
"Yes - if you are on the FreePhase tariff, you will receive the free electricity and do not need to sign up to the campaign"
Within link mentions should extra time be played when knock out stages are reached will be 3 hours free electricity. (Applies to possible England and/or Scotland participation)

I thought today was bad…
Highest red UR I've seen, IIRC.
Why are prices so high?

Simple answer will be market conditions.

Indeed - but what's causing them?

The usual current politics, plus I believe some of our Nuclear generators are in maintenance.

Tomorrow will have limited wind. The sun helps keep a reasonable limit on prices during the day, it is the evening and to a lesser degree the night prices causing price to be so high. The positive is the free couple of hours because of England and Scotland World Cup fixtures.

Wind is very low today and I think interconnector availability is lower.
Plus a certain amount of higher demand due to the heat and increased air con usage etc.
More wind tomorrow by the looks so should see an improvement.
