That's a great start Jessy - you'll easily be done by 50 at that rate!

With Virgin having been taken over by Nationwide, I expect the ability to use the app will change. Their credit card app has already massively improved, so hopefully the banking one will soon too.

“Big” birthdays are always a focus, mine is to pay the mortgage off by the time I’m 60. Although I do suspect you are a bit like me, trying to pull that date forward all the time 🤣. I won £15 a couple of months ago and my first thought was well I know where that’s going! 🏡

I'm actually with Nationwide banking wise and now feel like a numpty because I remember getting all the emails about them buying virgin money 🤣 Hopefully, my mortgage will show on my Nationwide app eventually then! X

Not sure about anyone else, but I'm in a bit of mucking fuddle with the clock change, so are the dogs! I'm still sat in bed trying to muster the motivation to get up but feeling a bit groggy.

The mortgage balance hasn't updated yet, maybe tomorrow when it's a weekday 🤔

Three hours of cleaning done yesterday and then pizza in the evening with my parents, DH and boyo. DH has now left to take boyo half way to Lowestoft where they will meet boyo's grandad who will take him the rest of the way back. Bit upset for DH really, because boyo's grandad (his mother's dad) demanded that he be taken in the morning, so that he doesn't have to drive in the afternoon/evening, so DH hasn't had any time with him on his actual birthday and I was going to cook us all a nice roast dinner 😔 Just a shame that even though he's now 19, we are still beholden to boyo's controlling mother and family and DH still doesn't get to spend much time with him. Not a lot can be done. Made it very clear to boyo that he is always welcome here and can come and stay when he wants, especially now he has his own room. I guess that's all we can do.

Anyway, I've been messing with the overpayment calculator and I'd have to pay an extra £900 a month to hit my mf by 50 target. Doesn't seem very likely, but we'll see how it goes! I'm not going to let it put me off anyway!

Right, I'm getting up and showered, then I'm going to plonk myself on the sofa with a cup of tea and a slice of cake and watch gardeners world 🙂

Have a good Sunday all x

Does boyo not have his licence yet ? Then he can come and go when he wants?

@Jessy103 I'd have to hit around £700 a month to pay ours off by the point I want my mortgage gone too 🤣 however I've not let it put me off either and I figured I'll do what I can each month and then if I get a couple of decent lump sums here or there it could be doable.

I'm sorry you didn't get to have a full day with boyo or even a full morning ☹️ ... perhaps driving lessons should definitely be on the cards. Or would he consider getting a train? My kids dad are three and half hours from us, they have to get a train into London and then back out again which I wasn't so sure of so I used to drive them half way same situation as your OH. But if you've a direct train perhaps that would be worth the extra few quid?

£900 is roughly the amount we would have to overpay each month too 😣

To be honest I’d also be happy with a very low figure by the time I’m 50 which we could either pay off with savings or know the ‘end’ is very, very near!
It can feel like such a long road at times but we will get there.
