Does it run just at the sides and top?0

Kaipa88 said:Does it run just at the sides and top?I'd have thought so.It's a plastic trim - the obvious place would be the sides and top - it isn't required along the bottom. The brown sealant that's been applied along the bottom, and along the window board, would be best replaced with white silicone, finished using a Fugi - that will give you a super-neat bevel, and looks really neat.I wouldn't, however, trust the folk who fitted your window to do this, unless, for example, they accept it's a very poor job, but they do have someone who is 'ace' at this sort of thing. But, for added physical 'trim' - assuming you like the idea - expect to pay more, and fair enough.Your house is well purdy, and the door and windows ditto. From what I can see, it's only that appalling application of shhhht-brown sealant that mucks it up. I'd like to think their boss would agree, and offer to sort.Give them a chance.1

The issue is it was the boss and his worker that did the job.. I’m going to send an email instead of calling him so I can articulate the issues properly and it gives them time to think about how they want to respond. It was raining very heavily throughout the afternoon so I’m sure they were just rushing to get the job done but it’s no excuse. Fortunately I haven’t paid anything yet..1

That looks absolutely awful . Are they Fensa registered or just a bunch of general clowns?0

Sili won't adhere well to that. There's a few issues - the choice of colour. And the quality of application. There is no excuse for either. There are numerous DIYers on this forum who would choose better, and work to a much higher standard. An email is good - it provides recordable evidence.Q - are you otherwise happy with the work? The door and windows work well, and do the required task?If so, I think I'd be inclined to ask them to either provide evidence they do have a competent enough employee who'll sort the issue properly, in which case you are obligated to give them a chance, or else to deduct a sum that'll go towards you getting a proper finishing job carried out.If they poopoo both, then tell them they are being 'watched' on a national forum, whose users are currently falling about laughing at the pitiful standard of their work. And you will be posting an honest review of their work.

I am happy with the door and windows themselves (other than the fact I asked for brushed steel handles instead of chrome but hopefully that can be easily fixed).WIAWSNB said:Kaipa88 said:The issue is it was the boss and his worker that did the job.. I have used this company before for my outbuilding and they did a MUCH better job. Clean lines and no ham fisted application. I’ve sent the email outlining the issues and have requested they come back to sort it so we’ll see what they say..
As it stands I can’t even paint the room as it’s covered in silicone over a wall colour I don’t want to keep.

Email sent to company yesterday:
Good evening,
The porch door and windows were fitted yesterday at ** *********. I’m regrettably sending this email as I’m really disappointed with the finished result having had time to inspect it properly.
I have used your services in the past for the outbuilding window and received a much cleaner, higher-quality job which is why I chose to use ****** ****** again.
The issues are as follows:
• Black/brown silicone has been applied internally around the window/door frames and windowsills. I’m unsure why this was used as it was neither discussed nor approved prior to fitting and it looks very unsightly.
A paintable white acrylic sealant should have been used internally to allow the porch to be painted as intended. Also clear silicone has been used above the windows so again making it impossible to paint the walls now without removing it all. You can’t paint over silicone..
• The quality of the silicone application is poor. It is uneven, bulky in places and not neatly finished giving an unprofessional appearance.
• On the outside, the sealing is excessive, applied without attention to neatness and affects both aesthetics and the overall finish. There’s also huge clumps of silicone underneath the windowsills that just don’t look like it was applied properly.
• I requested satin handles to match the front and back doors (text sent Weds 17th Sept) but chrome handles were fitted instead
Please see photos attached of work (apologies if this email mixes the order up):

I need this work to be properly rectified. Please let me know how you plan to address these issues and provide a timeline for this all to fixed.
Regards
