We also had a little snow down here. Didn't stick. Melted before it even hit the ground. But there were some whopping great big flakes ❄️.Today I am grateful for being recommended a company by a gym buddy, for fat snowflakes, for finishing another mega turtle, for dh driving Pip's partner home, for only now needing to hang up the fleecy curtains on some doors.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!5

I forgot to mention that the WM was playing up yesterday - it wasn't draining. So pulled out the plug which was clogged with fibres and small sticks. Despite having a bath sheet and half a load of clothes to soak up the excess, it spread beyond them. Put it all back together and since then have been processing small loads of sopping wet clothes and towels in small batches. I have hung some clothes out on the line (partly in desperation as nothing is dry and I've worn the most bizarre selection of clothing today).
I got a gold star for my feet at the diabetes foot exam. Went by bus and took it slowly. I ordered my repeat prescription from the pharmacy whilst I was there and asked if thye had any face masks. She only had an opened box under the counter so I begged for one as I have a flu jab appointment tomorrow, I had found a stray one for today.
On the way back I stayed on until the bus station and went in the mall. Was out of luck with the cs trawl for duplo bricks but bought the 10 for £10 picture books and the 3 for £7.50 from a selection of adult books. However because of the Black Friday deal (which I avoid like the plague) I got 12 picture books and 4 adult books (3 Christmas feel good fiction and Billy Connolly's autobiography)
Very slow and painful walk home (my knees were taking it in turns to 'go' and I thought I was going to end up on the floor. Then I had a quick turn round the wading bird shop. Came home, got under the bedclothes double quick and heated up leftovers for tea. I've just booked a taxi for tomorrow morning
Grateful for lovely podiatrist, helpful pharmacy assistant, buses that come on time, getting to check books whilst resisting all the crafty stuff.8 -
Good moring,
NSD 11 today. The next few days will be spendy I guess as I'll start christmas shopping. I will fix my christmas wreath tonight (it lost a lot of the pine cons and other decorations). Can't wait for my pamper bath again tomorrow, definitively making that a habit now. Got one of those little trays across the bath, hot chocolate and twiglets.....Anyway, will also the conservatory cleaned and sorted this weekend, still got some garden to tidy up (freezing now but should be back up to 8C degrees then, definitely need to pack the water hose away once defrosted) and a few DIY projects to finish. With DH away it should be a productive few days.finally tea total but in still in (more) debt (Oct 25 CC £1800, loan £6453, mortgage £59,924/158,000)6 -
On my third attempt, I finally got my flu jab.
I had a taxi there and rather optimistically decided to walk back as far as Tessimo's. Can't remember the last time I went in there - possibly May of last year to buy phones.
I have been extremely self -indulgent (although only 2 items were full price). I have abunch of reduced rose, a rich cream with swirls of pale pink, looked at mags but nothing I fancied, bought a pair of pyjamas (purple unfortunately - they had a few pairs in a biscuity beige but none in my size), a duplo baby animals set (actually that was reduced too) and a number of yellow sticker salad items. Paid full price for red slaw. Oh I picked a new reusable shopping bag with mummy and baby Highland cattle.
I think I needed cheering up. I may descend into the dark reealms of Hallmark movies this afternoon.
Grateful for lovely nurse and receptionist and taxi drivers (and resisting buying a real but quite small Christmas tree (there were teeny tiny ones as well). I do not need it, I haven't got anywhere to put it. When my knees and my back stop aching I'll continue with the tidying shuffle - putting things where they belong and getting rid of as much as possible.9 -
Nothing wrong with purple pyjamas @grandmanerd

Nsd#12 here today. I’m feeling anxious today. Work has been super busy and it’s affecting my mental well-being. Have absolutely nothing sorted for Christmas and feeling overwhelmed.Mortgage free wannabee 2022 #827

Sorry about work. Remember Christmas is just one day out of the year. Try to not worry about it too much 🤗dizzyblnd said:Nsd#12 here today. I’m feeling anxious today. Good morning,
Today will be NSD no 12 here too @dizzyblnd. Agree plenty of time to get organised for Christmas and agree with @beanielou it's just one day....unless your German and get to do it 3 days, Nikolaus, German gift exchange on the 24th and the British version on the 25th
Hope your work calms down a bit @dizzyblnd and you get space to breath.
Glad you got your flue jab @grandmanerd.
I was researching our tradition of Nikolaus (St Nicholas, the 6th of December) as we'll be doing that at our friends' house this year and I wanted to be prepared to explain it. So, we polish our boots, leave them in the hall and Nikolaus fills them with sweets etc overnight if you've been good or coal if not. Apparently that's the original Santa and the equivalent of hanging stockings on the chimney in the UK on Xmas eve (comes from a 4th century story of Nicholas trying to help a poor man whose three daughters couldn't marry because they lacked dowries, he secretly dropped bags of gold through a window or chimney, and they landed in the stockings the daughters had hung by the fire to dry). Sorry, random fact for the day.
Apropos jammies, I need to cozy ones soon.finally tea total but in still in (more) debt (Oct 25 CC £1800, loan £6453, mortgage £59,924/158,000)7 -
ok I'm turning the laptop off. Five times I've been dozing off and caught the laptop with one hand to stop it hitting the floor.
A quiet day, had problems walking and staying upright early on so decided it was a staying in day and put on my new pyjamas after having my shower. Lots of tidying done, I have full paper and bottle bags and a bin bag. I've made 2 more appointments for next week and made some space. More washing in and out (towels and sheets) but not taken the last lot as I'm scared that it's gone icy. 3 items that I'd left out earlier in the week (it started to rain heavily and the line was full) were all frozen together.
I would have liked to go to the community shop but decided I can live off soup and beans for a few more days.
Grateful for getting early appointments, tackling the huge pile of paperwork and assorted stuff (2 boxes to go out soon as the only things left in them are things that need wrapping), good drama.
Thrifylass - the 3 bags of gold is where the pwnbroker's sign comes from and why St Nicholas is the patron Saint of pawnbrokers as well as many other groups (coopers - people who make barrels and either sailors or fishermen). Our church has a St Nicholas chapel and many of the patrons are depicted on the reredos (wall panel behind the altar).7 -
Thanks everyone. I know it will calm down and I know I will get through it as I do every year. Was supposed to meet a friend for lunch but she has a poorly child home from school today so I ended up with another nsd. 13 now. This weekend is project sort Christmas even if it’s just in list form. Hope everyone else is well. I enjoy reading everyone’s lists each day.Mortgage free wannabee 2022 #826
