After a second bad Trustpilot review from me, Etoro replied before 8am on Friday 16th to apologise, and said the operations depart had been informed to apply my bonus. They then put "solved" on my open ticket from the 9th. Well here we are on Tuesday 20th and still waiting. All the positive reviews on Trustpilot must be fake, surely? Anyway, third negative review incoming!😂
If I left a review, it would be positive. I don't think I've ever bagged as much money in such a short time and for so little effort. Seems to be just a minority who have encountered issues, so you'd expect a lot of positive reviews as well as the negative ones. I'd imagine some even signed up to use the service for its intended purpose.
Completely agree, only a small minority have had a negative experience.

Moreover I would expect there to be a bias towards negative reviews as having a bad experience tends to motivate people to leave reviews more than a good or average experience would.

Moreover I can only speak from my own experience but a few years back I left a selection of reviews on different banks and building societies on TrustPilot, some positive, some negative. Most of the positive ones were removed on the grounds that they "looked like fake reviews" and I was asked for evidence of my experiences, they were often several months after I'd posted them. All of the negative ones survived though.

It's one of the reasons why I tend to take reviews on these sites with a pinch of salt.

Goes to my point upthread that negative Trustpilot reviews are being used as a "boosted" complaint to the company being reviewed, in the expectation (born out here) that the company will make contact via Trustpilot more expeditiously than using their internal mechanism solely.

TP is going a bit OT, but here goes. There are three elements. Businesses harvest positive reviews, some user types use it just to create a public noise to trigger positive action to bypass the standard processes (and sometimes out of pure frustration once the standard processes have been exhausted). So neither side typically have a purely benign, philanthropic intention. The third element though is that the businesses affected know a good TP score is critical, as many potential customers will use it as a quick look/guide to help determine their choices without digging into individual reviews. It will often be flagged up on the relevant URL landing page (if 'good', obviously!). It's particularly critical for the UK market (for a global software service provider).

There are plenty of genuine reviews of course, but they are often diluted by the harvesting on one side and the queue jumpers on the other. There are also reviews that reflect on the customer service (or lack of) and not the product itself.

The businesses typically employ people just to monitor TP and SM 24 hours a day, so it is self perpetuating. A negative review will usually get your issue ahead of the queue. But the board just care about the reported score, not how it is obtained (IME). So they are happy to acquiesce to negative reviews, unfortunately.

I did a version of this one last year. Worked fine, got about £70 worth. IG just dropped its custody fee too.
