Update... Just had text from NatWest to call their fraud team urgently.
    Just explain that
    1. you are making an unusually large transfer to somewhere you have never used before
    2. you have been promised free money if you act quickly
    3. you feel compelled after exchanging messages with random internet strangers
I'm sure the fraud team will be fine with that

My £5k deposit transfer was stopped by the fraud team. Trying to explain to them what it was without sounding exactly like the above wasn't easy!

They did release the payment eventually, free shares successfully closed and balance withdrawn within a few minutes of my deposit arriving  :) Thankfully the incoming withdrawal wasn't also stopped.

Santander certainly made me jump through hoops to move the money - first time I've ever had to scan my drivers license as part of setting up a new payee - which wasn't even to eToro directly, but to Natwest (I was consolidating a few small pots to get the £5k together)

    TCB Santander

Santander Edge Saver opened 19th December 25. Hhad to close the existing Edge Saver, that took 6 working days instead of 5 so missed Amazon offer. Complained to Santander about it taking longer than expected and got £15 compensation. It didn't track with TCB so ticket was raised and put on ice until after the waiting period was over and ticket got submitted. Yesterday, 9th in the evening it appeared in my list of earnings as confirmed. Now, just after midnight it appeared as payable and payout now initiated.

    eToro

As stock markets are closed over the weekend, I would strongly advise to wait until Monday when markets are open and banks are fully operational and working again should you try to get the offer.

Wishing everyone who had problems that things turn out ok in the end!

...although with eToro, I would be interested to know if it has worked for anyone outside market hours.

As per my previous post, the fact you can 'sell' and realise the money from this free stock instantly, suggests that it was only ever notional to start with. Otherwise you'd be waiting 2 days for the sell trade to settle before being able to get the cash...

(Oh, and exactly the same for me with the TCB for the Edge Saver. Santander seem to do things in bulk when it comes to TCB...)

eToro are surely going to close this loophole if they haven’t already? I’ve been a bit slow to respond but would be interested to know if anyone is successful over the weekend or from Monday onward.

I have successfully opened an account, selected the free shares that I wish to receive and have been verified so I’m all set up. I think I’ll wait until Monday morning before depositing the £5k and await the free shares.

If anyone is successful this weekend then I will proceed earlier. I’m concerned this will be pulled or amended due to the volume of recent applications.

How are people managing to speak to agents on livechat? I tried at about 6pm yesterday, and all I got was a bot fobbing me off by asking me to open a ticket that would get a response within 14 days. I said that wasn't good enough, as I want to speak to a real person. The bot said it would pass me on to an agent who would respond shortly. After 5 hours waiting the chat was cut off, and they emailed me a survey to ask what I thought of their service.😂

I'm fully expecting to wait 7 days with no response and having to withdraw £5K after that. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to who gets it and who doesn't. I followed the instructions to the letter, and got to select a share during registration. I'm just hoping there's no problem getting my money back, as there's no proper way to contact them from my experience.

@Bridlington1 where are you seeing that the money needs to stay with them for 2 months?
You're quite correct, I appear to have misread the terms, apologies. It seems upon reading it properly the money just needs to be added to the account within 60 days of opening, it doesn't need to stay there.

It thus seems the offer is more generous than I first thought.
No worries. I wasn't sure if I'd read the t's and c's correctly myself.

Next question - How quickly can payments/withdrawals be processed in/out of HL savings account?
I can't remember off the top of my head, unfortunately for me I opened an account with them a couple of years back when compiling the DDs thread as they allow £1 deposits by debit card and have left the account open with £1 since then so am ineligible for this offer.

I'll need to make a few debit card payments for the TSB switch offer this month anyway so shall make some into HL this evening and report back.
    @winkowinko
Apologies for the delay in replying, it's been a rather eventful week

In terms of timescales for deposits/withdrawals from HL, I make some £1 debit card deposits into my HL cash hub on 5/1/26, these appeared immediately and I was able to request a transfer to my newly opened Aldermore EA account. I've logged on now and the payments into Aldermore were dated 7/1/26.

I've just withdrawn the funds from the Aldermore account into the cash hub which became available to withdraw immediately. I'm now just waiting for the funds to arrive back into my nominated account.

You'd think, but they ran an equivalent promotion last year with the same loophole.

Yes I did read that a good few pages back. I’m guessing the amount of people who are willing to take the risk and jump through the hoops (however easy or hard they may be) is many times less than those actually using the site and earning fees for the platform.

Yet, I’m still hesitant but that’s just because it’s the weekend. Although from the past 10 pages of posts I’ve seem to pick out that the deposits and free shares have been credited (and sold) outside UK & USA trading hours anyway. So who knows….

eToro is involved in CFD trading and runs a crypto exchange, both of which are a licence to print money. So there is a great deal of cross-subsidisation that will be taking place anyway.
If you are concerned about the offer being pulled, then completing the offer requirements over the weekend, at worst, could leave you with a stock that you cannot sell until US markets open on Monday (though perhaps you will be able to sell, given others' experiences). Or you will be too late and will have to return your £5k to your bank account with no extra (with an opportunity cost of lost interest). I think it is unlikely that if the offer is still live today on Saturday, it will be pulled before US markets open on Monday, but there is a low cost to hedge your bets.
