Up to you where you draw the thresholds. If you time it right you'll need to keep the money in HL for about 2 months to get the cashback.OwnedByACat said:Is the Hargreaves Landsdown offer good enough?
If you stick the minimum amount in to meet the criteria for getting the cashback it equates to getting back 0.2% of your money as part of the offer, or equivalent to a 1.2% interest rate boost on the savings account held.
Given that their top EA account pays 4.07% AER (4% gross) that would effectively give you a variable EA rate of over 5% which beats all the currently available top EA accounts on offer with the exception of the Santander Edge Saver, with the caveat that the interest rate can change at any time subject to 14 days notice.
Edit, ignore this, it appears I'd misread the terms, there's nothing in the terms stating the money needs to stay in the account, only that it needs to be paid into the account within 60 days of opening.2 -
Not trying to compare the two products, just the cashback offered for putting money into them.ColdIron said:
That's not really a fair comparison. The HL offer is for Active Savingsflaneurs_lobster said:
Hard to quantify what you mean by "good enough". It's not particularly generous.OwnedByACat said:Is the Hargreaves Landsdown offer good enough?
Moneybox emailed me today with their cashback deal, £5k into their "investing account" until end-July would get you £50 vs a tenner at HL.
I'm not familiar with either the HL Active Savings or MB Investing Account products, I simply note that the summaries give an amount of cashback for depositing £5k with them and one is 5x the other.0 -
@Bridlington1 where are you seeing that the money needs to stay with them for 2 months?0

You're quite correct, I appear to have misread the terms, apologies. It seems upon reading it properly the money just needs to be added to the account within 60 days of opening, it doesn't need to stay there.winkowinko said:@Bridlington1 where are you seeing that the money needs to stay with them for 2 months?
It thus seems the offer is more generous than I first thought.1 -
No worries. I wasn't sure if I'd read the t's and c's correctly myself.Bridlington1 said:

Next question - How quickly can payments/withdrawals be processed in/out of HL savings account?0 -
I can't remember off the top of my head, unfortunately for me I opened an account with them a couple of years back when compiling the DDs thread as they allow £1 deposits by debit card and have left the account open with £1 since then so am ineligible for this offer.winkowinko said:

I'll need to make a few debit card payments for the TSB switch offer this month anyway so shall make some into HL this evening and report back.1 -
Added the HL offer to the list, along with this Wealthify one:

If it showed on your cashback list, then it tracked so why it didn't reward seems very strange, unless there was a cut off point on the 31st at the close of business which may have been earlier due to it being New Years Eve. As I opened mine late night on the 30th, I'm not able to know for sure. The MONY Group email arrived after confirming my email address on the online TSB application form before the application was fully submitted - junk mail?
Cheers, yes always check spam. Suspect missing the cut off point on NYE is the more likely explanation. Would have been good to get the voucher, but will be more than happy to receive the £40 TCB cashback (hopefully).0 -

this one seems a good offer as it doesn't need to invest, only require a deposit or transfer in and will also be earning 2.5% interest on cash held in ISA. I will be going for £500 minimum deposit to get better ROI
