@Altior it's a plausible theory for why I never received the email invite.

Hopefully all will become clear in the next couple of days.

I have followed the t+C's in the order they are written

downloaded, opened savings account, deposited in that, it showed straight away, opened a GIA, made a deposit, got the email to say I'd deposited, entered the code.

But neither the deposit to the GIA shows, not any evidence of a bonus (neither credit nor pending)

@happybagger The fact that Chip isn't advertising it anywhere (except by invite) suggests it wasn't intended as a new customer promo. In fact it looks like they weren't even offering it to all existing customers.

That's evidence of a bonus in my view. Same as mine, but the steps aren't all fulfilled.

When I deposited I got a message informing me it would take 24 hours, Even though it's via OB which should be immediate.

I don't actually qualify, as I wasn't an existing customer. But it was worth a try. Hopefully it won't be eToro II 😂

Having wondered around the app for a while, I found that my Marketing Notifications; under Notifications in my profile, was switched off, so all promotions via email have never been be sent out 🤔🤐. I've switched notifications on now but still received the £30 bonus without email invite but only after I opened a Prize Savings account because I already have an easy access account which wasn't obviously deemed new….

That's also plausible, however when I messaged Chip last night, they responded with this.

We are indeed offering that promotion, but it is currently only available to a select group of members.

These offers are typically rolled out to specific "cohorts" based on account activity or other criteria. If you were part of the group eligible for this particular promotion, you should have received an email notification with the details and instructions on how to claim it.

If you haven't seen an email, it's worth double-checking your spam or "Promotions" folder just in case it landed there!

that's why I "became" an existing customer by opening a savings account first and made sure that deposit showed.

anyway, will wait and see. I was not keen on the open banking terms acceptance. if nothing is forthcoming when the deposit is credited to the GIA I'll close both.
