Two Weeks Beach Holiday With Only WizzAir Cabin Bag

Going on a beach holiday next year with WizzAir and totally begrudge paying extortionate fees for hold luggage. How feasible do fellow forumites feel that it is for a man to survive for two weeks with only the contents of a small carry-on bag? I have invested in manual vacuum bags and the appropriate sized bag. I'm not averse to giving clothes a bit of a swill in the sink and the extra cost of buying toiletries etc won't come anywhere the extra £80 each way for hold luggage.

Well I could manage, but that doesn't really help.MikeyPGT said:Going on a beach holiday next year with WizzAir and totally begrudge paying extortionate fees for hold luggage. The question is, could you? and only you can really answer that.1 -
If it's a beach holiday, presumably its warm, so no need for lots of thick jumpers (though I would take a scarf and hoodie on the plane).
With the max hand luggage allowed as standard (I think some airlines now have their own smaller allowances), I did a beach holiday for a week and came back with unused clothes. It depends if you want to dress differently for different things - do you want several smart outfits for evening meals, joggers for the plane, casual/smart wear for around town and shorts and t-shirt for the beach. Or are you happy with jeans for the plane and eating out, shorts for the beach and around town? How many pairs of shoes are you going to want?Statement of Affairs (SOA) link: https://www.lemonfool.co.uk/financecalculators/soa.phpFor free, non-judgemental debt advice, try: Stepchange or National Debtline. Does it have to be Wizz? Other carriers offer different prices.1

Thanks for the helpful comments so far
Barkin - very true. Just wondered whether anyone else had tried it and their experience ...
kimwp - I don't do 'dressed up' on holiday so probably chinos and casual shirt for evenings (shirts get recycled for beach after a couple of wears). Thinking trainers/deck shoes for travelling and sliders/flip flops for the day - could be a holiday purchase and abandon for hotel staff/on the beach. I have full size lightweight beach towel that takes up minmal space. WizzAir are on the stingy side 40x30x20cm ...
subjecttocontract - flight is already booked as part of a package deal ...Debt Free Wannabe by 1 December 2027

Solo traveller so that side of it isn't their problem! Kids are Army reservists so packing light is in their DNA!la531983 said:What do your family think about your bonkers plan?Debt Free Wannabe by 1 December 2027

Assuming you are going to a mass holiday destination, you can often buy cheap clothes which you can wear and leave.
I have a favourite pair of shorts that cost the princely sum of EURO 3.
My gripe with this is how it really is not green.5 -
Pack for one week, not two, and wash mid-trip. Quick-dry synthetics beat cotton every time; they wash and dry overnight. Take a small travel detergent sachet and a bit of paracord for a drying line in the room.

Going to Bulgaria which has historically been cheap as chips for clothes (often with a knock off designer label). Pretty sure anything with any life left in it abandoned on the beach there will find a new home fairly sharpish or alternatively left in the hotel room for the staff ...Grumpy_chap said:Assuming you are going to a mass holiday destination, you can often buy cheap clothes which you can wear and leave.

Flip flops are a good choice as they don't take up much room.
There's some quite entertaining videos with people packing clothes into secret pockets in clothing for the plane.
If you're willing to wash and re-wear clothes it's very do-able even with the smaller bag, but you'll only know if you give it a try.Statement of Affairs (SOA) link: https://www.lemonfool.co.uk/financecalculators/soa.phpFor free, non-judgemental debt advice, try: Stepchange or National Debtline.
