thanks beanielou💜, we have some potential dates for when they can go in again. It would also coincide with the new friend stays.
Went into town yesterday as we had run out of nuts. Then went to the sm total spends £78ish.
In the afternoon I was back at the plot and finished digging over the roots area. Mr🐞 went up after work and the wild blackberry is gone hopefully from the orchard. The plan for today is to create 3 beds for salad stuff and get the spring broad beans in. Might try and get some parsnips in the raised bed once I’ve given it a good rake. I might pick some daffys as they are budding up nicely. My plot grown ones have the most lovely smell. Up until last year I didn’t even realise they had a smell as I’d always had shop bought. Tonight we are potato chitting.
Right those broad beans are not going to plant themselves.Love 🐞

Didn’t manage to get all the jobs done at the allotment as I ran out of stream. I did get 2 salad beds dug. I was hoping to get the other one done today but it rain last night so not sure if I’ll manage. Parsnips didn’t happen either although I did put glass over the bed to help heat the soil and prevent it getting any more rain on it. So far today I’ve managed to cover most of the old orchard in tarp. We did this last year as we have a huge issue with bind weed and wild blackberry and I’d say it worked quite well. We do take the tarp off once all the apples are off the trees. I’ve transplanted my garlic chives into the herb area. I’ve also sown peas into gutters in the greenhouse. I’ve decided if we don’t get a decent crop this year I’m not going to bother. In the 15 years or more we’ve been growing our own we’ve probably only had about 3 decent crops. They are cheap enough to buy in the shops. But they are lovely freshly picked. I’ve also pulled the covers off the to be potato area to let it dry out ready for digging at the weekend.
Right I think I’m going to head home as I’m getting cold.Love 🐞

Admiring both the industry on the allotment and also the sitting in the rain with a cuppa .
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Thanks watty1.
I’ve weakened and made a private appointment to see a podiatrist. My hip pain has increased this week and I had a letter about a month ago saying I wasn’t a priority but was still on the list. They were recommended by the youngest best friend parent. It’s not for a couple of weeks so I’ve started taking pain killers regularly. The pain is mainly when I’m laid on it and strangely when I get out the car. The rest of the time I can put up with it. Initial appointment/ assessment is £70 then £40 for each appointment. Hopefully this will tide me over. I’m seeing chiropractor today to get some relief.
Didn’t sleep too well due to the above and tea not agreeing with me. I bought some smoked peppered herring. Taste nice but my stomach and ibs do not agree with my taste buds🤣. This is the 2nd time and the common denominator is the fish. Shattered.
The youngest refused to get up this morning for college and expected me to take them in. So I’m sat up at the allotment (watered and transplanted the comfrey I’d dug up the other day) in the sun and the wind🤨to teach them a valuable lesson. Which when I phoned about 10 minutes ago to offer to come back ( I know I weakened) they said “ no it’s my fault I didn’t get up, so I’ll go on the bus”. RESULT.
Picked up a huge bag of goodies from olio collector yesterday, several loaves of bread, spinach, peaches, and eggs. I did use homegrown but frozen courgettes, basil and thyme in tea last night.
Right time to crack on with something else as the painkillers have kicked inLove 🐞

Delurking to say that if you’re not already doing it, this is how to get out of the car - open door, turn so you are facing the open door with both feet on the sill (if you struggle to turn, sit on a plastic bag - feels weird but helps you turn round and not twist), shuffle forward till feet are on the ground, hold door with left hand and door frame with right hand to support but not assist as you get up. The trick is to avoid any twisting.

I'm sorry to hear about the pain and the possible reaction to fish… I can't offer any better advice than greenbee's about the pain, unless you have a low or squashy car seat and putting a firm cushion might make it less of a lift to get out?
I hope the chiropractor cam help, and it's probably worth mentioning to them what you've said to us about the car etc.
If this is a new reaction to fish (and I can understand you being upset if it's a trigger), would it be an option to have a break from it, rather than stopping altogether? Or, as you have a few strong tastes in peppered smoked fish, try similar but without the smoke or without the peppers? Or try smoked peppered mackerel in case the herring is the only culprit.
Great progress for youngest. 😊 I've often thought that if my parents had only called my bluff and left me to be too late to go to things, I might have grown up differently! However, I have the genuine excuse of being time blind - to compound the undoubted excuse of my bed being just too comfy!

When my hip was bad I found it helped to keep the angle between my body & thigh at greater than 90degrees. I still find setttees uncomfortable because they always seem too low.
