Mum and I spent the morning researching and booking our trip to see the beryl cook exhibition. New app installed and used the code from mse newsletter for a cheaper railcard. Trains booked. Accommodation is a purple hotel, there was several to choose from, so went for the cheapest with a little bit of a walk from the train station. We’re just stopping over night so no big bags to carry. Just need to find places to eat that do gluten free. Trip has cost us £274 . However the railcard will be used again as we are going to see the Tracy Emin exhibition at the Tate modern later this year, mum paying though as it will be my birthday present.
Took 4 V parcels to various drop off sites. I’ve managed to find the settings page and took off one of the drop off points as it’s a car job. The others I can easily walk to.
Right best go get the spinach from the plot for tea.Love 🐞

Hello 🐞just delurking to recommend a great GF fish n chip restaurant called harbourside that is on the barbican. There are 2 restaurants but the smaller one is 100% gf - my OH and I love it for the occasional treat and it's great knowing it's only gf. There are lots of chain restaurants closer to where you'll be too however if you are going to walk the Beryl Cook sculpture trail you'll be going to the barbican anyway. There are lots of other restaurants there with gf options so lots of choice.
We are at the exhibition this weekend and can't wait - hope you have a lovely time when you go.

rara32 thank you so much, I really appreciate you delurking. We are both really looking forward to the exhibition as she is one of my mum’s favourite artists. I have to get her the calendar every year as her Christmas present. Knowing that there is somewhere good to eat is an added bonus.

Oh - I have just realised I have a Beryl Cook jigsaw. I thought I recognised the name. I didn't dare take it to the charity shop! One just like it is selling for £39.99 used on Etsy. My sister bought it for me for a special birthday a lot of years ago. I wonder if it is still in the loft?

Badmemory it’s lovely to hear from another beryl cook fan.
Managed to get myself into the loft and was gobsmacked how much stuff is still up there. Some very large empty boxes. Apparently they are for when we move. Anyway managed to shift about 100ish items back downstairs. Large pile went straight in the bin, pile for the chazzer, pile for the car boot and a pile to sell. Sold a couple more items via the bay and V already. Nothing that will make me a millionaire but it’s something. Another £10 to the fun pot.
Mr🐞and I went to the pub as a treat ( paid by the spare change pot)on Friday, came away £25 lighter and abit tipsy. Not a lot of drinks for the price we paid, which set us off reminiscing about how much you could drink on that amount, get into the local club and still have change for a bag of chips. When we left to weave ourselves home the pub was almost empty. Mr 🐞remembers when you used to go in and you would need to squeeze your way to the bar. How times have changed.
Right time to go check the Lego set I found and then list it.Love 🐞

OH you just bought back a great memory. I was once interviewed for a job at the gallery that first exhibited Beryl Cook's work. It was such a lovely place. I had forgotten all about her until I read your post. I didn't get the job and was very sad about that for a while!
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!6 -
Sold another 4 items today, 2 sent plus 2 from yesterday, the other 2 are via snail mail, so those will go tomorrow . Also another £5.00 paid via V into the funpot. I’ve left a couple of quid in my V account to stop me buying anymore clothes as that money belongs to the family. It’s psychological and probably doesn’t make sense to anyone but me.
Sorted through a bag of saved cards and craft bits reduced to about a quarter. Some in the recycling, some saved for the youngest old TA ( to take to school), some saved and the rest in the bin.
I also topped up my pension to the legal limit £2880.
Right time to go a retrieve mum from the train as she has been to see the eldest.

Did a-bit more adulting yesterday. Mr🐞 and I went to see someone about making our wills. After a long hour we managed to get our wants onto paper. Just need them to write up the draft copy for approval and then sign on the dotted line whilst handing over a large sum of money. We could have probably got it cheaper if we shopped around, but they came highly recommended from a friend who works as a PA in the industry. Our friend was very concerned due to the nature of our situation with the youngest that it needed someone who knows how to draft this sort of will. Came away absolutely drained.
The eldest is having to come home tomorrow as they had a phone call to say the pharmacy has been unable to get them the last rabies shot😤. After lots of phone calls they ascertained that there is shortage in their area. They decided to try pharmacies in our area and has one booked for Wednesday🥳. They will go back home Thursday morning before they head to the airport Friday.
Took the 2 🐌 mail items to the post office and I sold another item which was dropped off with another courier. Cashed out another £5 from V.
Plan for today is a trip to the plot.

Well done to you both on the adulting and indeed mortality facing. Its not easy to do that but very important aa you say in your family situation. Your sales seem to be going well too, that must be pleasing x

Well done on getting the will underway. Although I know a will is more important for you but don't forget the POAs too which it should be possible to DIY hopefully.
