Adulting is hard. Currently having to do adulting. Good job doing so.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!2 -
yep badmemory those are on the adulting list for next months pay day to start.
Yesterday was mainly taken up with the plot. All the barrels we had are now converted to water barrels, lots of recycling of bits and pieces to connect them up. Altered one of the greenhouses by taking out the internal walls, punctured the concrete floor for drainage and then filled with soil. Often plants in there struggle due to various reasons, so hopefully we’ve rectified this. I sowed some spring lettuce into one of the cold frames and used an old shower door to keep the heat in. It’s seed I harvested myself. Harvested some overwintered spinach as made saag aloo.
Withdrawn another £5 from v. Leaving a nominal amount in that account had put the breaks on buying more stuff.

Another £5 withdrawn from v. Sales have almost ground to a halt, so might need to reduce them. 2 bay auctions should finish today. Not a lot made but they will be out the house. Hopefully another trip into the loft at the weekend.
Yeaterday went and started digging over the areas not covered to get out the weeds. This will be this year’s roots area. I’ve started marking out this years paths. This cuts down the amount of digging we have to do and makes it easier to add compost to where it needs to go. My broad beans have been decimated due to all the rain we’ve had. A lot have rotted in situ. Luckily I’ve some spares. Had a 15 minute tidy up of the shed as it just became a dumping ground for nets.
The eldest managed to get their injection yesterday and has now gone taking my new summer shoes for their trip🤣.
Right time to go feed my friends pets.Love 🐞

Picked up olio requests this morning before going to the plot. Used nature’s tumble dryer. Ordered a new dog lead off of v as miss giddychops loves a good sniff, so bought an extending lead so I’m not constantly having to pull her away. Hopefully it will encourage her to jog to catch up with me.
Went to the plot for several hours in the sun although to start with we had very thick fog here. Lots of digging, weeding and a did sow some seeds in the raised metal bed. Cleaned some glass and laid that on top. Swept out the shed and rearranged things, mainly so I can find them quickly. Took lots of surplus pots up to the donation area. Then took off the chains from some hanging baskets that had been donated. Harvested the last of the winter lettuce and radicchio. Had lunch up there which was nice. Saw several long tailed tits flitting about the bushes.
Right best deploy the hoist ready to pick up the youngest at college.Love 🐞

Currently sitting in the shed as it’s raining with a cuppa. Cleared the grapevine greenhouse of debris and a general tidy up. I’ve started training it to cover all sides rather than just the roof as nothing thrives in there during the summer months as it’s too shaded and humid. Perfect for grapes but nothing else. I think whilst it’s raining I’ll get the long handled brush and clean the outside windows of the shed.

Yesterday morning before we went to the plot I dropped off 3 parcels I’d sold. At the plot I dug over the area set aside for roots and sweetcorn. Left a couple of areas undug to act a this year’s pathway. Mr🐞pruned the big cooking apple tree by climbing into it. He then started digging out the bramble that is trying to move into the orchard.
On our way back we called via the PO to pick up miss giddychops new lead. Really pleased with it as it means I can continue walking whilst she has a sniff. Lots of tail wagging as she jogged/trotted to catch me up. Worth every penny as we’re both happier. I always felt a bit mean having to pull her away from her sniff.
The youngest although very nervous went to respite care last night. Super proud of them as it’s definitely outside their comfort zone. We’ve got them to see it as the next step to them becoming independent.
The eldest did their first flight on their own yesterday to Spain and today they get on another plane to South America where they will be working for a couple of weeks. Super proud of both our kids.
Time to get the washing out into nature’s tumble dryer and parcel up another sale.

I ache today after our trip to the plot yesterday. Mr🐞 continued butchering the wild bramble in the orchard and has only a small but difficult area to do. I continued to dig over the roots area. I was hoping for a dry week, so I could rotavate at the weekend. Weather wise it’s not looking good. Cleared the winter brassicas area bar 2 kale plants that I’m letting them go to seed. Seed is so expensive now that I’ve decided to have a go at doing my own seeds. Harvested kale to go in the freezer, brussel sprouts and cabbage for tea. Only 3 cabbages left. Then we are in the hunger gap period although the rhubarb is almost ready to crop.
The eldest arrived in South America safe and sound. The youngest loved respite care and is keen to go again, as they met a friend. Once we got home they went for a nap. Several naps later they went to bed early. College today I suspect will be a no, but you never know.
Time to see to my friends cats for the last time.Love 🐞
