Tesco PAYG moving to monthly contract

Nope, using a PAC code kills the doner SIM.RomfordNavy said:And just to add to the complexity of it all the Tesco mobile SIM which I ported the number away from now reports SIM Inactive! I thought it would have just reverted to it's previous number, I still had credit on that.
Will do the same when you PAC away from your current O2 SIM so use the credit first.1 -
A PAC or STAC is designed as a tool for changing mobile provider, so you are effectively telling tesco "I no longer wish to be your customer and I am moving my business to x"RomfordNavy said:And just to add to the complexity of it all the Tesco mobile SIM which I ported the number away from now reports SIM Inactive! That's why you can't pac to the same network you're on. It may be possible to do a sim swap and swap the numbers between two o2 sims, but it's not something to bet your life on.
Most likely you'll need to go out and back, which you can do in 4 days. Get a pac and give it to a new provider on a Monday, transfer goes through on Tuesday, give pac to o2 on Wednesday, transfer back to new o2 sim on Thursday. Rwg do a £1 credit sim which could tide you over, or you might need to use the o2 classic sim as a temporary number.1 -
It always makes sense to check.the service before porting if possible. Obviously it helps if you have two phones or dual sim but even by taking your sim out and trying the new sim for a few minutes and making a call. But if the sim is clearly labelled 'classic 3p 2p 1p' you should be okFrugaiMacDugal said:RomfordNavy said:Update:Yesterdays phone call was a lie by O2, today they have decided that they can't swap to Classic PAYG tariff. For the moment they have credited the cost of recent phone calls and moved me to a £5/mth tariff with unlimited calls and texts which uses up the £10 credit I put on there and gives me two months to find another provider.Oh dear, you'd been better sticking with Tesco.I got my Classic sim today from ebay, but have credit to use up with Tesco first, hope I don't have same problems.2 -
Classic (3,2,1) SIM now received, two of them in fact. Now waiting for a reply from O2 Complaints department.0

Yes they sent me 2 as well. Going into an o2 shop tomorrow to top it up and give them the PAC code. I would do it all on line myself but it is for someone else that does not do online. If anyone wants the other sim card I will post it out to them.RomfordNavy said:Classic (3,2,1) SIM now received, two of them in fact. Now waiting for a reply from O2 Complaints department.0 -
Hi, RomfordNavy, how did your switch to Classic go?1

Still had no reply from O2 Complaints Department so decided to try Customer Service again: Asked if they could transfer my number to the new Classic (3,2,1) SIM I now have but... they now say that they can indeed move my existing O2 SIM to the Classic (3,2,1) PAYG tariff! Apparently have to wait until the current monthly contract expires and then should automatically move to the Classic (3,2,1) tarriff, lets wait and see..

Have received 02 3p2p1p sim card, bought on Ebay, only cost me 20p.
Still waiting to see what's going to happen to my "lite" tariff.
I have credit to use on it.
Once I've used it up, will start using the 02 sim card, having topped it up with a voucher.1 -

Once I've used it up, will start using the 02 sim card, having topped it up with a voucher.I received a message from Tesco on Sunday, 'Your switch to Essentials will be in the next 72 hours', was switched over on Tuesday, with about £8 credit I still had.So, if you like a blether your credit will last longer on old Tesco than Essentials, use it up, you'll still have your 'free' bundle from Essentials to look forward to.Like you I have an 02 classic sim (from Ebay), will let Essentials settle for a few days, then switch.2
