Did it say classic on the packaging?
If not you may be on normal pay as you go,which is not 3p min 2pt ext 1p mb
Seems O2 are not so bad: just called them (4445) expecting to have a row regarding very confusing different PAYG tariffs but they simply removed the "Data bundle 15" package leaving me on the Classic (3,2,1) PAYG tariff.  Well done O2.

Or maybe not!  Thought it was too much competence to be true, just tested it out and been charged 55p for a ten second call to a mobile.  Will have to call them again tomorrow now.

    Update:
Yesterdays phone call was a lie by O2, today they have decided that they can't swap to Classic PAYG tariff.  For the moment they have credited the cost of recent phone calls and moved me to a £5/mth tariff with unlimited calls and texts which uses up the £10 credit I put on there and gives me two months to find another provider.

Just searched and it appears that O2 Classic PAYG SIMs are available from ebay.  If I buy one of these do you think that O2 will let me transfer my number to that while keeping it on that Classic PAYG tariff?

Oh dear, you'd been better sticking with Tesco.
I got my Classic sim today from ebay, but have credit to use up with Tesco first, hope I don't have same problems.

Can I not get a PAC code from O2 and use that to transfer it to the new Classic PAYG SIM?

No. You cant transfer from 02 to 02.
It has to be a different network.

And just to add to the complexity of it all the Tesco mobile SIM which I ported the number away from now reports SIM Inactive!  I thought it would have just reverted to it's previous number, I still had credit on that.
