Being nosey... How many Regular Saver accounts do you have?

Quite a few I've not heard of and potential prospects.

I looked into credit unions, and there are a lot, but as far as I can see they typically don't have RS type accounts and the accounts they do offer may give a share of profit, and that's variable and may be zero.

I'm also wondering how people of no fixed abode in Swansea or Cumbria open an account with the respective BS ?  Could a care of address be used temporarily ?  Maybe a camp site, a hotel, or a hostel or similar.

Credit unions aren't ones I've had much in the way of dealings with, dividends are usually quite low (2.25% in the case of my nearest credit union) but many do allow deposits by DD so can be of use in this regard. You occasionally get the odd offer where they'll give you however much as a bonus if you open a specific type of savings account with them so worth keeping an eye on just in case.

I wouldn't go anywhere near Credit Unions due to the high failure rates, something like 100 in the past 15 years ? And then on top of that are those which are put in default which are numerous, many due to maladministration or incompetent administration.
Very high risk strategy for little return in most cases even if they can be a benefit to a community (temporarily).

Hi luci ... if you mean the "league table of how many RS's do you have" ... as in the title of this thread (started by topyam), then I publish it here within this thread every week or so. If you look back a page or two you should find the latest updated table.

Many thanks for the link. Yes, I did mean your "league table of how many RS's do you have". I follow this thread, so don't know how I missed that, so I appreciate the link. I wasn't sure if it was a Page 1 post that was updated.

A couple of suggestions though. In order to make your list easier to find you could launch a new thread, a How many regular savers do you have thread with your list on the opening post which can be continuously updated. You could also make that thread a no chat thread for updates to your list only, with any regular savers discussion going into the main regular savers discussion thread.

Alternatively you could also make a post in the main regular savers discussion thread and the main regular savers discussion thread could take on the role of this thread, as I'd consider how many regular savers people have to be within the scope of that thread.

In both cases a link to your list could be included on p1 of the main regular savers discussion thread.

Both might just make it easier for people to find your list without having to scroll through several pages to find the most recent version.

Was going to suggest a new specific thread myself for Bobble to start (no offence to the original OP) whereby the list and updates are contained to Post 1 and updated accordingly so it's very easy to find.

I 100% would not condone adding it to the RS thread. It's already far too cluttered. If only people would read the account summaries and even T&Cs before opening new accounts it would answer many of the questions which are constantly and repeatedly asked.

I think Bobble is doing the work here and should take the credit in that new thread.

In case we are moving elsewhere, my updated figures for November are 21 RS with a total of £21,000 (and 22 building societies.) 

My figures will be a bit of a mess through December, as £1,700 will be placed in a holding account for January once maturities have taken place.

I think this thread was set up in good faith and it is fun and has encouraged me to start a spreadsheet... yet to finish it! However I've been obsessed with regular savers for a couple of years now but only discovered the thread 6 weeks or so ago and I'd be surprised if I was unique in this. On a number of occasions I've found that in perfectly good faith, and understandably, issues much more relevant to the main RS thread have broken out on discussions on here (I may have even done it myself!) so I think it's worthwhile to at least consider what Bridlington1 is suggesting. I think probably a no chat thread would be my favoured one but not massively bothered if the other approach were taken .

I currently have 20 RS in my name and 8 for my wife. She's not that keen on having loads of accounts in her name, but I'm working on it. I only do accounts that are 5.5% or higher, and only those that can be opened online. They are all fully funded to the max allowed.
