Dentist today so definitely not a NSD! Also had to pick up a flea treatment from the vet's for doglet, and that wasn't cheap either. He doesn't have fleas - this is so that he doesn't get them. He has never had them, but can imagine what a fuss he would make if he didIt has been a lovely day here. I got a line full of washing dry. Now have the ironing to tackle. Hopefully not much will need it!.I picked the quinces off the tree. I must fetch them in, as they are still on the garden table. I will make quince jelly I think, enough for us and any other family members who would like some
But for now, I will leave the basket on the dining table, as they smell divine.
Spent the morning (before the dentist) moving furniture around. Not quite how I wanted it, but a definite improvement. It was useful to be able to hoover under things that don't get moved often anyway!Grateful for getting some cleaning done, lovely weather, and not needing anything done at the dentist's!.3 -

Lots of gentle hugs beanie.
I'm slow and sluggish and had to remind myself against self-pity (nothing terrible has happened but sore eyes and skin especially round my eyes making me miserable). I opened a can of baked beans but was otherwise stumped for meals -there is stuff there, it was just too complicated to get my aching head round today.
My pills arrived late morning hooray (had a reduced dose of one pill first thing). My COVID tests have still not appeared so I'm currently answering the door and then moving away and pushing my walker forward for them to deposit any parcels (I am explaining so they don't think I've lost the plot). Quite annoyed that several were for DS3.
I unpacked all my new pills into a box then used my pill bag and usual box to store a week's pills and then at least one box of each for refilling. I spent the rest of the morning sorting appointments from my phone (why do they say you have an appointment and then send an incomprehensible scrabble of numbers and letters which have to be fed into the laptop to reveal the mystery). Two are in November, the one I most recently received is on Halloween. I have 2 podiatrist appointments but not enough info to figure out which is the diabetic check and which is insoles. I hope I have a note somewhere with it scribbled down.
The most frustrating was the one that is this week and that I want to cancel in case I have COVID. Three notifications all with different links. One page couldn't be found (number1, lower case l (ell) and upper case I (eye) are all the same, how do I know which is correct). Another took me to registering with NHS appointment hub (or something like that) which asked me a load of questions and then said they'd never heard of me. I was ready to quit but then found an earlier notification that worked so that has now been rearranged (second postponement). When I start getting better I have to arrange blood tests, diabetic review with the practice nurse (probably in December as it comes after all the other relevant appointments) and rebook my flu jab and see if I qualify for the COVID jab. It's going to be a fun winter.
I was then thoroughly self-indulgent and ordered a take away lunch because it meant I could have a hot chocolate. I haven't done the big shop order and I'm now thinking about doing 2 or 3 small orders to be delivered at different times of the day as I don't think I can cope with a big delivery (especially as I want to stock up on cans). I took a pack of antibiotic wipes into the bathroom with me, thinking I could wipe all the handles within sitting reach. Doable for anyone who can open the pack of wipes that is - I'm making a list of most pathetic failures of the week. I used the last of the toilet cleaner around the bowl and later took a new spray bottle into the bathroom and sprayed everything I could including the trim at the bottom of the shower. It needs scrubbing but I wouldn't give good odds on being able to get up if I get down on the floor. I could spray just by bending forward a little and we'll see if that helps. The handles feel much better than they did.
Grateful for hot chocolate, easy food and good entertainment.

I hope tomorrow is a better day for you beanie. Sending hugs
Good for you grandmanerd prioritising the hot chocolate! A more than worthwhile priority imo!Not as far back as Dad’s Army, but The Wonder Years and Happy Days for me.Made it to NSD 2/15!
Feeling grateful today for OH working from home and keeping me company, for DS doing brilliantly with his dinner, for Mum getting her first Vinted sale and managing to post it all by herself (after 20 minutes of FaceTime instructions 🤣), and for the carry-on and calming cuddles with DS before bedtime.

Thrifty the knickerless has given me a good laugh this evening. Thank you. Imagine if we still gave names like that.Yesterday was a nsd #2 as it was strange windy weather and I didn’t need to spend any money. Then today the weather was absolutely delightful. About 20°. Much more my style. Made soup for my lunch this morning which was delicious. Breakfast, lunch and cottage pie for dinner from stores. So nsd#3 today.Grateful for October sunshine and good food.Mortgage free wannabee 2022 #827

Got up at 6.30 to wake DS3, as his college stint has finished & he's back on site again. Did Norwegian & exercises.
Work went ok. Showed some folk my tattoo. Dropped sewing off on the way home.
Tried to prep things on the computer for printing to go on my craft fayre stall. No wordprocessing programme on the pc, so DH had to install one. Then the printer wasn't working... Had brain ache by the time we managed to do it all.
My brother phoned, it's his birthday tomorrow. Found ribbon to trim the baubles. Still have 2 to do.
I loved watching The Good Life, & Darling Buds of May. Have both on DVD. I used to watch Keeping up Appearances every week. When I commuted from the smaller island where we lived on a Sunday night, to our main island for work, I'd watch it religiously when I got back to my digs. As a 16/17 year old, I'd write a letter home to my mum each week, & try to line my stamp up perfectly, like Hyacinth did 🤣
Shattered now. Hope you all have a good night's sleep & tomorrow is better for you.
Grateful for laughter with colleagues, a colleague giving me some sour watermelon sweets, DH sorting the pc & printer for me, & DS3 taught himself a new knitting stitch & made a tiny orange kittenUse it up, wear it out
