Yesterday was an nsd for me. I also got a firm date for the car repairs, made scones and watched a Louis Theroux programme. Avoided any more adverse storm effects and made scones to rescue slightly out of date double cream. Grateful for power, so many others locally are temporarily disconnected, baking turning out well, dh braving the elements for bread and milk.Mortgage at 01.01.14 £119,481.83:eek: today £0 Emergency fund £5.5/5.5k & £200/200 cash.:jWeight 24/02/19 14st 7lb now 11st 12lb determined to stop defining myself by my mistakes. Currently, I have 10 naked penguinsI've just made the base shape and will cover it with the coloured wool to clothe them. Don't want to do a Thrifty with them...!

Hope you’re ok @grandmothernerd
I’m late to reading this month but would be great to join in again if that’s ok?
Sorry I have not posted much in the last couple.I love the optimism theme. It will be good for me as work is so busy. It’s great that I have a job though and work with a lot of kind people. It’s a job that mostly gives me the chance to help people so I’m grateful for that too.Grateful for a lovely dog walk in autumn sunshine.I’m grateful that we’ll be having a phone call with our youngest grandchildren soon.Take care all x7 -
Still on NSD 1/15 after taking DS out for lunch in between seeing OH off at the half marathon start line and cheering him across the finish line.
Grateful today for time with OH and DS, for watching OH complete the race, for unexpectedly bumping into a friend from primary school and getting a lovely hug, and for leftover homemade pizza for dinner.

Not much sleep last night, but feel ok today. I think it was the flu vaccine that made me feel unwell yesterday.Up early, went to a market to look for items for my sales unit. Didn't find any, so we went to another one. Found a few little bits but nothing exciting.Made a large steak and kidney pie and invited DD2 and family to dinner with us. I cooked potatoes, carrots and green beans to go with it, and found a plum crumble in the freezer for pudding. We only have puddings when there are visitors as we need to watch our weight, so a bit of a treat. There is enough of everything left over for dinner tomorrowGS searched out some toys that he hadn't seen for a long time, and enjoyed playing with those.GD is coping with her broken foot injury, though school is a bit tricky due to the stairs. She manages stairs ok at home, or here, but it would be a Health and Safety issue should she try to use them at school with crowds of kids all moving around at the same time. She is therefore not allowed to use them. When her class have lessons which involve going to the upper floors of the building (often), she has to go to the Learning Support unit, (she doesn't need learning support, but is sent there in lieu of her lessons as it is staffed, and on the ground floor. She is allowed to do her homework there, but must be missing quite a lot of actual tuition. She is coping really well with it all, given she has only just started secondary school, and I am so proud of herThe weather was quieter today, though still a cold breeze.I will be working 3 days this week, so need to fit most home stuff into tomorrow and Tuesday. After work on Wednesday, a firm are supposed to be coming to quote to replace the render on the upper front of our house, as it is crumbling and falling off. Now that won't be cheap!

A day of steady plodding, all the washing has been line dried (left a t-shirt and a rag out as I don't need them immediately), used up nearly all the remaining food, put away most of the dried washing up and swept the shower room, ready for mopping (maybe). Stuff went to the bins and I brought back the one that was emptied this week.
I've had a little nap and watched a four part Jimmy McGovern series with Christopher Eccleston and David Harewood.
Grateful for good programmes, getting things done slowly and the fruit I bought yesterday.9 -
Laughing that I'm now known as Thrifty the Knickerless 🤣🩲

Still quite windy here. Hung the washing out. Think the only things happened at Thrifty Towers was done plant pots blown over. Phew!
Walked nearly 4 miles with DH. Read my book whilst eating dinner, then I cut out material for 2 more baubles. Shortened a dress, then did a couple of quick repairs. Had time to do some of my jigsaw before collecting DS3 from the bus stop. After tea I assembled both baubles. Will have to put the ribbon on them tomorrow night, ready for the fayre on Wednesday.
Grateful for no storm damage, my cosy wool socks, going for a walk & jigsaw timeUse it up, wear it out
Make do or do without!
If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours 😃

Thinking a lot about watching the old shows like Keeping up Appearances. Can't believe she was 96 when she died this week. My other favorites were Yes, Minister and Yes, Prime Minister, Dad's Army, As Time Goes By, and Last of the Summer Wine (my father's favorite). I have them on DVD so I've watched them several times. Do any of you have favorites you watch now (or in the past)?7
